  1. Hi AS,

I remember driving back from Dundee sometime in the 1980's during heavy snow and before I had driven a half mile had to pull over as the windscreen just iced over. All vehicles and lorries had to do the same and it was treacherous and much worse than anything I'd seen down South. When I got back to London people were oblivious to any bad weather in Scotland and it may me realise then, and may times since, that we seem to live in two different worlds north to south UK with gradients in between but, back then, it was not even mentioned on the news which am axed me at the time.

  2. This may be of interest to anyone else expecting friends/family tonight landing at City Airport. Apparently my daughters aircraft is a Avro RJ100 Avroliner which, as far as I can discover, has a maximum demonstrated landing cross wind of 35kts or around 40mph. Should be interesting and I suspect there could be cancellations as they can't divert elsewhere I guess judging by tonight's wind forecast for London. I presume the same applies to all the other airports. Any pilots around?

  3. Well sad as it may seem only 2810lollypop and myself are left to prop up the South East & East Anglia forum at this hour of the morning (1.52am). Even I am flagging and the ever increasing concerned looks from my wife tells me I am completely mad and should get some sleep. I keep looking at the radar in the misguided belief that something will appear that will be spectacular but its an ever circle of expectation that keeps me awake for unhealthy periods of hours on end. Even the mad thread have gone to sleep which should tell me I am wasting my time so I shall graciously leave it to 2810loolypop to bravely burn the candle into the night and I wish you luck with radar watching, storm chasing, snow, wind, rain or sun. Goodnight (well, for a few minutes at least!).
