  1. Paul Hudson has apparently said the precipitation will be curving back round and coming back more E-W across Yorkshire

If it does do this then we may get lucky. As its very close now to turning to proper snow. If it doesn't I can't help but feel it will dry up as the uppers finally get cold enough.

For the snow starved heres a good webcam from over the Pennines http://www.northyorks.gov.uk/IceStationCameras/033B92B9_FFED885A_cam2.jpg

  2. maybe he referred to the high ground south of M56 near the power station.

Even so, theyre not that steep sided. That terrain matches Snowdonia and the snow cover the same as his trip there a couple of weeks ago lol.

Anyway is my location eligible to save Backtracks eyebrows? Or does it have to be really low lying snow?

  3. The eyebrows aint going no where!

It's being washed very quickly away, but a 10 min burst of snow made the Runcorn hills glisten.... briefly.

    Eyebrows stay. :)

Runcorns suddenly part of the Snowdonia National Park now is it Backtrack :p

Edit CC beat me too it, anyone elses Netweather gone really slow?

  4. Can't be far off snow now where you are? If we do see any you'll get it before me

Yeah thats what i'm thinking. That tweet Snow Guy put up before shows snow just to our north east so its just got to come a little further west now I think. Doesnt look like we'll get that much, if anything, here now though. Just seems like sleet now for the last couple of hours. Ground is quite icy.

  5. LOL, it's always interesting seeing people slipping on what looks like rain.......until now I've managed to keep myself upright (despite some near slip experiences) Though I've seen plenty of other people come a cropper :p

Haha yeah, Im glad im off on holiday today so have no need to venture outside. Back in work tomorrow so will probably have to fight my way through the traffic that always seems to grind Macclesfield to a halt when it snows.

  6. Really is a different world up there (despite not being too far away from here)......I noticed that even Sandbach (just a few miles away) had areas of left over snow when we drove through last night.

Yeah you can say that. Macc itself has its own favoured spots I've found recently. I live in the south west part of the town with only a few houses left before the fields start but were also on a hill thats around 40m higher than the most of the town before you get to the eastern side thats on the hills. Back in December I had snow at home but when driving through the town center there was very little. Then theres been times where my part of town will get 5cm, yet the other will get over 10cm. Really weird really but goes to show how a little more height can make the world of difference sometimes.

  7. Rain here aswell but 850hpa heights are just too warm for a 'freezing rain' event, luckily or unluckily. It will be later on this afternoon around 3/5pm ish that for us in the south this light drizzle will start to turn back into snow..and the good news is another 10-25cm ontop of whatever snowcover is left over (or even if snow-forecast/GFS is predicting) those in lower levels aswell who didn't see anything last time.

How much snow have you got left from the weekend? Were just down to grass being covered and the pavements having ice on them.
