I can see the lights of Boulogne from here, and the last bolt was in line with that view, so not much rain is falling from that thundery shower.

Big CG strikes. We aint kidding!Quite a lot of flashes and rumbles!

Quite a lot of flashes and rumbles!Just had a rumble..wasn't expecting anything but there's a line of something running along the Channel:
Ha - just posted along the same lines

Even if one takes away the rapidly expanding anvil(s)as shown on the satellite pictures over south west France, the rainfall radar still shows a near perfect circular mass of mostly torrential rain at least 100 miles in circumference. If Britain ever got something like that, everything would stop.

Anyone that`s scared of thunderstorms can be given hope by this:-
Kaddy Preston was back out of retirement (yet again) on south east news. She was raving on about the approaching apocalypse for Saturday. I seem to remember her making another rare appearance a few weeks ago, talking of violent MCS storms hitting the region. Nowhere got more than a light shower, so expect the same. She`s jixed it.

Le Havre or Dieppe. Its Once in a hundred times that a storm in calais will hit kent. And if that does happen, only ramsgate gets it.I'll be in Calais or Boulogne, on the side of Storm Freaks, using every last drop of power to knock the thing across the 22 mile wide centre line. Sorry to disappoint! ;-)

Its going to let rip any minute now. That anvil is growing big time

Every one of those strokes is a cloud to sea strike. Bound to be some ships catching a few of them.
-
Lightning over the channel looking due south from Folkestone. Can just hear the thunder.
-
Its the sea mist they forecast, only its lifted into low cloud.no fail there really.Good morning from a grey and overcast Beccles...

Sorry if its already been said, but a met office weather warning for a bit of long awaited good summer temperatures?????
What the hell has this stupid nanny state little country become?
28-30 celcius is run of mill stuff for almost the entire world in summer away from Antarctica and Greenland. In lots of places thats a normal night time minimum. Get a grip please Meto/BBC.

Windy and completely overcast and cool. Sucks to be here today!
-
Big flakes coming down here for last 10 mins. Grass white; cars too!
Theres no point giving weather reports if nobody knows where you are mush.
-
Got 1cm now. Folkestone 80 mts asl.
-
Bit of a dusting forming in folkestone from this forward edge outer band.
-
Proper convective showers going on in the east of your region and north yorkshire .Few cms in places surely by now? some of my fellow southeasters would be spitting blood if they were awake to see the radar. Especially after all the hype and ramping about south east only event. Im not bitter though - honest

Sleety blobs here at 80 metres. probably more like wet snow in higher places like hawkinge, capel le ferne or whitfield. (140-170 mts)My mobile app is just reporting rain/snow showers in Kent and East Sussex. Its normally fairly accurate and the radar is currently showing a thin line of showers in that region. Any reports locally ?

West Surrey/North Hampshire snow magnet still going strong.
-
Spring would arrive before that car goes anywhere.
-
-1°c here on south kent coast now with a fresh breeze straight off the sea. Must mean the true continental air has arrived.
Not expecting much more than a dusting for east kent.
The 00.58 bbc forecast showed the band fizzling out and not properly reaching this far east.
-
Can confirm that light snow has been falling here in north Folkestone, on the slopes of the downs since about about 9.30pm.
Theres a reasonable dusting.
