  1. Why is it so warm in your house? The daytime temperature was several degrees lower than that!

    Karyo

    I dunno :cray: we always get this problem with our type of house's, bloody freezin during the winter and then like a greenhouse during the summer. Max temp was;

    Today's data Temperature

    High Temperature 24.2 °C at 14:48

For some reason i cannot get the temp down, if i opened the windows thought around here, i would wake up to my 50 inch full HD tv off the wall lol.

  2. Most probably - they normally say 18-21C is optimum temperature for sleep, the lower the better.

What I have observed a few times now, is this talk of onions, lol! I gather it means 'ill' or 'sickly', but am curious where the term comes from? lol

I love onions :D but thats not the reason why it says onions, when i say sh*te or sh*t it says onions :cray:

  3. Oh how irritating. I hope that moaning person realises how ridiculous that sounds

Anywho, a couple of small showers have developed over north Wales recently, I shall be watching to see if any evening showers or small tsms spark off in the next few hours :)

4% chance of that happening :)

  4. The weatheronline suite, I'm afraid, which is the only place where such charts can be found for free. Someone moaned about me posting them, so, in order to keep the peace, I won't bother looking at them, posting them into paint, editing their format, saving them to my desktop, and then, finally, posting a commentary.

Ah right ok, i understand now

  5. Yeah, I edited my forecast a little bit more northward, after I posted. There's good reason for this, but, I think, that regarding comments earlier on, I'm not really allowed to post such charts. Sorry.

Post such what charts? I dont understand..

  6. At the risk of providing evidence for any forecast I make, here is a completely, partial forecast, with no reference to any website at all:

Black is good chance of t/storms, red is potential for severe. It will all change of course, but, in my opinion, E Anglia is where you need to be for Monday, particularly late evening.

    post-5986-1245003748_thumb.jpg

EDIT: perhaps a touch more north for the red circle

    Close, i would go for;

darker severe storms red general thunderstorms

  7. Quick questions boys and girls:P

If i was to have a section on my site that allowed you to watch the latest BBC weather forecast live, and also have a daily archive allowing you to watch the daily forecasts after a new one has already been brought out would it interest you

  8. Lewis I will go as far as it takes me, could get as far North as the Wash, It is only 160 Miles which compared to distances in the States (800 miles per day) is nothing at all.

Saint yes I expect Herts to be in the Thick of the Action.

Gordon yes Coventry stands a good chance as well. I think the Met Office will include the Midlands on there next few Updates.

    Paul S

If you get to hull email me i'm also on msn: [email protected] ill chip in on fuel :)

  9. James

    You working tomorrow ??

Think the main action will be from 5-9pm and Further North than London. A line from Bucks, Beds, Herts, N Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambs, Lincs, E Midlands, Notts, Humber etc

Am planning on going up there tomorrow evening, if you want to tag along then that would be great.

    Paul S

Scattered Thunderstorms for Surrey,Greater London and Berks

Paul are you coming up to hull mate?

  10. What??? Why are you even replying to my comments when you clearly don't have a clue what happened. Nothing in advance? Do some research. The Meto knew that conditions were favourable for 'Strong Tornadoes' in the Midlands, take a look at the synoptic chart for that day when the Tornado struck.

I watched the forecasts that day and all I was told was that there was going to be showers and the risk of thunderstorms. Please don't reply if you don't know what happened that day.

You dont have to talk to someone like a piece of crap just to make a point! Rule number 1 on a forum lol

  11. I suppose I'm just gonna have to wait and see what tomorrow brings rather than focusing too much on the GFS charts since I havent got a clue what's going to happen. It seems that even if Wales and West Midlands had CAPE values of 3000+j/kg and LI of -10 and storm risk of 80%, the Meto would probably forecast thunderstorms for Scotland.

I've always said that the East are more likely to get the more intense storms and the heaviest rainfalls come tomorrow but the Meto are basically saying, that the West country are only going to get a few showers and with the risk of hail and 'the odd rumble of thunder'.

I hope tomorrow the West Midlands is caught out by a beast of a storm and the drains cannot cope with the amount of water falling from the sky, that way the Meto may think twice before pulling down the advisory for the West Midlands.

So you would like something dangerous and very life threatening and property/damge wrecking to make a point to metoffice? I know we all want storms but wishing thats a little too far dont you think.

  12. Yes it could happen- although I don't think the effect tends to be as pronounced in your area as it does on the Tyne & Wear coast. Nonetheless I reckon if you live within about 5 miles of the east coast you can expect to be disappointed tomorrow.

Thanks for the info/reply mate, i'm about 15-20 miles inland. So fingers crossed.

  13. It seems I have alot to learn about storm development. Tomorrow for the West Midlands max SB CAPE will be well over 1000j/kg and atm a LI of -5, add to this nice dewpoints and surface heating and trough to come from the West. What confuses me is how Meto can say that there will be showers with the risk of thunder and which will slowly die out later in the day.

I'm just lost as why they are not mentioning the likelihood of Thunderstorms for the Midlands. Please somebody educate me in the area of thunderstorm forecasting because looking at the charts I woud have thought the whole of England was in a very favourable environment.

I think its because wales and the west midlands will be the breeding ground early on, as the showers push east during the day and the surface heating in them areas increases, conditions will be more favourable.

  14. Yep, a very close inspection of the radar suggests that showers are fizzling as they get towards the east coast- though the cloud movement is from west to east and a few showers are getting across to the coast further north. You might just see the odd shower or two this evening but it is unlikely we will see a repeat of last evening when a thunderstorm appeared over South Shields.

Tomorrow I expect a narrow strip within about 5-10 miles of the east coast to stay dry, there will probably be sea fog on the coastal fringe though not far enough inland to affect Pelaw.

Could that be the case tomorrow for my area, i forgot you name?

If theres an Easterly wind coming onshore will it affect the development of some cells/storms? For example it will hit the humber area (goole) and then stall and decay on the leading edge.

  15. thanks for setting up the live cam, always good to have live feeds. may I ask what cam stream software/website you used ?

Not a problem  Yeah its straight forward really, i stream live sports and football in HD so i have a lot of experience with streams. You need a program called Flash Media Encoder i use the older version (2.5) the newest is (3.0) has more options but its not as stable. You need a capture device (a webcam) and then you need somewhere to stream too, i use a private RTMP which i dont mind giving you access too, it can hold over 3,000 viewers at anyone time when i stream football and i stream at rates of 700kbps its more or less HD quality on the web :diablo: .

But if your looking for something simple and easy, you can use ustream (http://www.ustream.tv) they provide the hosting and also allow you to add cool things to the stream like embed comments and twitter etc. With ustream you can use FME to upload and they have there own broadcaster which picks up the FME stream and broadcasts it, or you can use there standard browser broadcaster which is an activex plugin that displays your audio and video device and streams it.

If you have any problems setting it up or need some help, PM me and ill give you my phone number, or you could add me to msn; [email protected]

  16. I am not too happy with the MetO warning areas, obviously, but there is still 24 hours between now, and the storms kicking off - with storms forecast to last into the night, it gives greater opportunity for changes in the forecast.

Right folks, live streaming is setup and will be accessible 24/7. Im not spamming, nor do i want to make any money from my website and on top of this its just my own weather station site (Please dont ban me).

I tested out the light input etc and worked on the frame rates so it should be perfect to watch tomorrows storms (if any) during the night. Enjoy:)

  17. Just setting up live streaming system for hull tomorrow etc, connected to my main weather station, it'll be like the netweather storm chasing thing they did but the only difference is that its not moving its static. If you see something cover your whole screen its my next door neighbours fat ass.

  18. Right lets all take a deep breath and get back on topic, we dont want anyone getting a 24hour ban etc, believe me there not nice, my last ban on these forums should have been until the year 2349 i know who set that "Paul" because thats how long its going to take for Everton to win something. And if you end up been banned for tomorrow you will be kicking youself.

I say we talk about rainfall rates <_<

  19. Sometimes thats a sign of a storm!

Me i just don't like met office forecasters , nor do i like the bbc forecasts with their useless map panning. I live in the south east and yes i tend to get a bit moody when we don't get storms , but thats only because we get let down so often by overhyped warnings. I personally believe also that warnings should be changed , heavy rain should NOT have a weather warning!. Severe should mean severe

Me too i totally agree with you regarding metoffice forecasters, there inital assesment on the situation the other day had the SE in the firing line, then it moved N once again, i grant you the charts are currently showing that, but i think with the amount of man power/data/ and experiene of getting things wrong in the past the metoffice should be able to deliver accurate warnings, after all that was the whole point of there new weather warning system.

Another thing, metoffice always under do it on rainfall totals i was suppose to get 40-50mm when i had 130mm in hull and got flooded, i was on a night out when that happened and i had seen the warnings and thought nothing of it because metoffice deliver the same type of warnings all the time, hence the confusion and also a lot of people take the warnings with a pinch of salt.

Come tomorrow places will be looking at double the rainfall amounts going by the convective potential, one storm the other week delivered me 23mm in 1 hour! Ill say no more.

  20. Not the time to get a Regional Cat fight Going Lewis.

I live and work in the South East but said the best chances were further North and North West so not strictly true.

Lets try and keep this thread on Topic and no Mud Slinging or posts Will be deleted
