The sky has been rather dull and featureless all day, some convective stuff just started bubbling up in the past half hour though. Id bet some are in for a storm this evening from the look of this sky! Good luck fellow storm addicts!

I think a lot of people are "whining" about the damage caused to people's properties! Yes, I too love a good storm, but with storm after storm, and persistent damage to transport networks and whole settlements forced to be abandoned, I am starting to crave dry weather!
I completely understand that people are suffering as a result of these weather systems, But if you live in a floodplain or on the edge of the coast you cant be surprised when something like this happens. I love the rain, More of the same please : P

Been drooling over the charts for the past couple of days, Just planned a drive down to Brighton area on saturday morning with the family. I love a good storm! Also please could people stop whining about the rain? Its been the most exciting winter for years!

Radar looking interesting today! Wasn't expecting to see such convection when i woke up this morning, fingers crossed it doesn't fizzle out over the midlands. My birthday tomorrow and it is Always sunny on my birthday. But it looks like this year that is set to change!!

Is it just me or is this storm starting to look a bit like an MCS? The river Ouse behind my house has already burst, any more rain will not be welcome :L
-
Just had the first abnormal gust, Scared the crap out of me! A friend is coming to pick me up so we can inspect the damage, in the mc donalds area..
-
Its oddly calm outside at the moment with only a few small gusts of wind, been slowly receding for the past couple hours. But i just went outside and i can defiantly hear a roaring sound to the south, Very eery

I have seen storms like this many of times, It's called heat lightning. It is when the storm is far enough away from you that the sound of the thunder can't reach you, But the light has no problem being visible since light travels much further then sound, Hope this helps
Also welcome to the net-weather forum!

Morning all, was pretty surprised to be woken up earlier by a rumble of thunder and hail hitting my window! Not to shabby for November
-
Was pretty eventful night here in Bedford, A dead tree fell over at work, My bedroom door slammed shut in the night. Then there where leaves everywhere. My friend just sent me this...

Estofex just updated http://www.estofex.org/ A Level 2! at this time of year!
... British Isles NW of the front ...Additional convective storms are expected to the NW of the front. These will be rather poorly organized and should not pose a significant threat of severe weather. Nevertheless, small hail and mostly- non-severe winds will probably occur with some of these.

There must be a storm coming since the netweather severs are struggling! Wind has started to drop for the first time today here, Calm before the storm maybe?
-
IIRC Katrina was 949 or 959; something like that?
Edit: Katrina was 903mb. Just proves how severe/devastating that storm was in comparison.
Had me worried for a second there! Will be interesting to see how Michael Fish will forecast this storm...
-
this is the worse case scenario
960mb!!?? I like a good storm but that's a tad much!
