Out of curiosity what makes a streamer? What are we looking for on radar?
Clumps of showers stretching out to sea with little to no gaps between.

Can't help but think these accumulations would be better if the wind died down even the heavier showers are through in 5 to 10 minutes followed by sunshine
Nature of the beast really though isnt it? strong flow aides convection and drives the showers inland.

Blizzard conditions , best of the morning so far.

Can someone explain why everywhere from Teesside south has got really decent stuff, whereas from Teeside to North of Newc the sea looks completely different? (i.e., rubbish)
Its because you keep looking at the radar and ruining it, stop it.

Strange isn’t it, we have cloud, low temperature in fact everything in place but there is still a reason why no snow falls, I still believe we will get our share but oh how I hate the wait.
Its the front down south thats lessened convection, as it clears it should pick up.

Not exactly true, a lot of people were saying that fun and games would start Saturday night. Anyway we are all in this together, so let's hope that something big and memorable is coming up soon.
The weather doesnt give a hoot what people were saying, it will do what it will do regardless, deeper cold in place now, it should get more and more wintry.

A 45kg one!
We’ve got a pair of Alaskan Malamutes.
I bet they are cheaper to keep a week than a fortnight.

What convective cap? From the front over SE England.
Cumbria sometimes does well with convection snow easterlies like in February 2018 but most models are keeping us dry.
Models were the same in 2018 so hopefully they are wrong now also.
My wife keeps asking me is it going to snow and she is not impressed with my bumbling response about 850 uppers and streamer location, thats my Sunday dinner ruined as a result
Come on guys help me out, will the showers get across the Pennines, what are the main parameters?
Andy
The hills kill most of the showers from the East for your area, a few may get through.

I remember those words from a Sunderland fan a few years ago as they were battling to stay in the Premier League...
Battling not quite the word was it, wimpering more like.

The radar is definately picking up, better than i expected this morning as well.

The showers should gradually get heavier and more prolonged as the day progresses, keep the faith.

Popped my head out after dinner, hoping it would have turned... Nope.
The N Sea is where it's at for us, clearly. But no one's telling me this evening hasn't failed to give what the models and even the radar were showing, even if we might now be able to see the reasons why.
I never expected anything of note tonight snow wise, it simply hasnt been cold enough, most models showed that to be the case, later and in the morning may be different.

Looks like it will just clip the coast and mostly miss, quite remarkable how much bad luck weve had, really couldnt make it up.
