I'm in Edenthorpe, there's some heavy rain headed your way any minute I would think. Gusty winds with it too. Been watching cells SW-NE for the last hour or two passing just West of here, this one has got us, no thunder though.
Just had it hit us, the cell over Sheffield appears to have a cracker of an anvil above it from here.

The sky to the SW of me has gone a very pale grey/green, slightly reminiscent of Thursday, but not as green.
-
Got a line of showers with the odd sferic thrown in just to the north of me running NE-SW..

Video of the Ewerby/Kirkby-la-Thorpe Tornado

Just found this on facebook of the Newcastle storm earlier..

A heavy shower with a rumble of thunder is as rare as hens teeth round here, I can't even begin to comprehend a supercell.....lol
There seems to have been about half a dozen in the UK though today.

Just seen this on twitter from Paul Hudson (via several others...)
Tyne Bridge struck by lightning.

Awaits Discovery to Announce Storm Chasers UK lol..... Impressive for uk if that tornado is verified!!
Looks impressive at least.

This is apparently Newcastle City Centre about 5 minutes ago..

had a huge rotating storm here around 4pm ish, can anyone let me know if they have radar etc.. of the lincolnshire area at that time, i have never seen cloud rotation like it, and i'm 99% certain there was a funnel in it, but i want someone with more knowledge, better radar skills to confirm what i saw
thankyou
Whereabouts in Lincolnshire?

Still very warm and humid here... Could be something possible later on, but not very likely.

Or five minutes in a boat!
Take a submarine

Had a text from a friend of mine reporting a possible tornado in the area of Bottesford, Leicestershire.
-
More storms pushing up from midlands and pushing up to Yorkshire. Maybe thats why its dark here. Heres hoping.
Definitely more coming, the stuff to the SW of me is building and bubbling. Shame I'm at work again in 20 minutes.
-
BBC Nottingham say that the River Maun (in the immediate area of Mansfield) has been given a flood warning following this mornings weather.
-
anyone else in west yorks or south yorks gone very dark??? Its that really quiet sound too outside when you sense something happening.
Just cleared up over me, but its dark to the north, and east..
-
Got some clear skies just to the south of me now, but I can see the tops of the storms to the south towering up, and the stuff to the SW coming this way.
-
Hell of a lightning strike in the DN7 area just on 12pm (I'm on my lunch now), really close CG hit, followed by what sounded like someone discharging a shotgun in my ear... Lovely stormy morning though.
-
Large Cb gone up to the SE of me in the last hour. Looks like its got some lowering in places too.
-
Had 2 storms here this afternoon, the first one hit just after half one, and had the biggest looking mammatus on the rear end of it that I've seen in a long time.
The one that hit around half three was a proverbial humdinger, with some constant thunder being produced at least.
Hope this evening provides another couple.

Interesting once it hit the humber, the bulk went n/e and the hook went s/e over scunny.....
And I live in the bit that was in the 'gap' between the two.

If it is for the purpose of storms then what I will be doing is waiting for things to look good and then go. France/Belgium are a bit like the UK and unpredictable, so booking in advance you could end up being there when there was nothing. The last few years have given awesome storms across France and the Low Countries
Getting a group together would be good for bringing the costs down and sharing the enjoyment of France's all night MCS storms (or the hurt of a bust lol)
Sounds like an idea.

Yep.
The one that has brewed up over Sheffield in the last hour has got pretty big, and hopefully, should continue to show a bit of electric build up..
