Snowing in Glenrothes,Fife right now.

Massive amount of snow here in Glenrothes, chucking it down.

Light dusting in Glenrothes, I cant see them its dark yet, but I bet the lomond hills are white.

Curtain idea is a good one, my front door is straight into my sunroom, then a sliding door from the sunroom into the hall. The glass can get very cold during winter, a large curtain goes up every autumn and makes a huge difference. Double glazed or not, glass gets very cold.

Light frost here,don't know what the minimum was, currently blue sky, and 3.1c.

I have the lights back on the pushbike for my commute, up hear its still pretty dark at half six.I ride to work all year round( studded tyres etc) and have really noticed the change in recent days, I'm now needing warmer brighter clothing,and my glasses to stop the watery eyes.

Snow Ramping.

Dry, 8.1c, but a cool breeze.Fingers crossed for this weekend. I was going to take off the winter tyres, but I think I will see Feb out first.

Just took a walk around to David Sands in Markinch, the footpaths are lethal, a layer of slush, I'm on my way into work early tonight, I was hoping to be running up to work in a snow shower, I'm not so confident now. Drizzle at the moment.

Fitted my winter tyres yesterday, the guy at the garage says he has sold over 300 this week. Any way, a boring mild day in Fife.

First frost of the year here, went out to the car and I'm having to get the de-icer out.

Cycle home from work this morning, sunrise was amazing, warm slightly muggy, could have been a July morning. Brown leaves on trees didn't look right in such glorious weather.

Quite windy here in Markinch Fife, had a couple of heavy showers which stopped almost as soon as they started.

Its that time of year already,great thread, I will follow most days.

Its still way to early to predict what kind of winter we are going to have, lets face it its a 50-50 chance cold or mild,someone is going to get it right. As for mother nature, things happening early, I cant say for certain but Im off the believe that nature is reactive not pre-emptive. So lets all chill (pardon the pun).

About 12-15 Inch here,Im constantly losing my battle with the snow, Im trying to keep my car snow and ice free as my wife is likely to go into labour at any minute,Im dreaming about clearing snow.It is worse than last year at the moment,It stopped snowing long enough last year to get things going again.This year its never stopped,I just cant wait to get the new baby home so I can let the car hibernate.

Lots of snow here in Fife, I would say 4-5 inches,bloody pain, my wife is due to give birth any day now, I am just hoping the roads stay clear enough so I can get her to hospital.I love snow usually but not this early.

Lomondsnowstorm,that was January right? End of the first week? The Red watch up at Glenrothes Firestation,myself included were out at around midnight trying to keep the area around the front appliance doors ice free with bags of rock salt.My gaffa called it a day when the snow arrived,Im glad I didnt have to drive the pump that night,weird sitting in the station feeling helpless................senior officers are even thinking of taking off the snow chains "as we don't use them often enough". Have never seen so much snow come down so quick,that was a busy set of shifts for us.

I totally agree.I live up here in Scotland also, and a permanent move to BST would IMHO be a bad thing, my daughter would have to walk to school and come home in complete darkness.In the far south this would im sure be an advantage to tourism famer's ETC,but the uk has a dramatic daylight shift from north to south.

I second what lomondsnow storm says,Dec 09 was a cracker,snowed in Markinch before Christmas and the snow stayed right through Christmas new year and beyond.

I hope we get a good period of cold and snow this year,Im not in to very hot temperatures (no problem this year then) and like the Autumn and winter.One down side of all the snow,Im a firefighter, and had one of my busiest winters for Road Traffic collisions,but the vast majority were minor as people tend to keep there speed down.Still you get the odd Idiot in a big executive car doing 80mph in the fast lane driving over 2-3 inches of hardpack.....
