  1. Surely it is the exact same wrong forecast as last year and the year before that lol!

yeah but if u read the facebook page they are proud of all their super accurate predictions - it really is a love fest on that page. mostly them loving themselves right enough as they delete comments that arent complimentary

  2. Are you referring to this? "There are many strong signals that point towards a very cold and snowy winter (major snow episodes) for the UK & Ireland throughout the upcoming winter of 2014/15. To allow everyone the opportunity to read the full reports x 3 and be fully prepared - from Friday until midnight on Sunday we will be posting a site update and allowing purchases for just £4.99 (normally £9.99" Quote from http://www.exactaweather.com/UK_Long_Range_Forecast.html

exactly that yeah lol bargain eh!?

  3. the ever accurate folks over at exacta are again predicting a real certainty for a very cold and snowy winter.  they did at least acknowledge last year they got it wrong - but said this is one of the few times then on to claim how great they are lol unfortunatly i cant read the whole story as i need to pay for the privelage. ill get right on that....or not....

  4. I would love to have some epic storms like last year and some good proper snow thrown in, although proper snow for my area is pretty rare but maybe this year will be a repeat of 2010 - 11 winter :)  I'd love a white christmas where is snows on christmas day :)

Can't beat a white Christmas can you? You just never know, we could get another event worthy of excitement, fingers crossed!

  5. Madman predicts the same thing every year. He will get it right eventually!

His argument I believe is that by saying Scotland will be snowy - he's correct - high altitude typically always will. He keeps it vague enough to mean he will always be correct. So yes, utter tool. The fact you can't add unmoderated comments to his fb page is testimony to his toolishness

  6. Madden? could not forecast a wet paper bag event.

Every year it is the same.

Yet still he seems to charge and people I presume people buy his guff! I have notice if u post on his fab page to query anything - the comments never appear unless they are complimentary Lol don't get me wrong, as he often predicts huge winter events - I wish he was correct! But I've never known him to be unless its by accident

  7. Currently reading through the lead up to Dec 2009 cold spell on the model disc threads of the time (still can't find the nov dec 2010 ones though...).

It gives a very different perspective to when it's going on in 'real time'. The sheer level of doom and gloom followed by unmitigated elation followed by near suicidal despair as each set of charts roll out is incredible (and that is often just in the space of one day!).

In amongst all of that nonsense the few stand out posters exist, none more so than the mighty GP. He really was on another level in terms of being able to see the bigger picture in respect of the GWO, MJO and atmospheric coupling from the Enso state. I think he was snapped up by a company which precluded him from posting in here? Certainly was this forums loss...

I'm reading through that same series of threads, your so right, its a wonderful read! I think knowing how things turned out turns those threads into a really intriguing diary, like reading a favourite book again. Oh how wonderful would it be for it all to happen again!

  8. For me I prefer the cold and snow to be severe and early. The run up to Xmas when I'm preparing for some time off work is brilliant when the winter feels properly settled. I'm not really a fan of big winter events in January, then we're depressed going back to work and struggling through snow at that point to get to work just isn't as much fun suddenly lol

  9. Indeed, none of the worst winter weather has ever been predicted, and computer models even at this stage are useless in predicting cold winters...Well ......just before the event,,,

For me its all just about the anticipation, but its nice to have a surprise like 09 or some hope that something good may come. Last year there really wasn't much hope at all, what a dreary festive period (weather wise)

  10. Here's Dec 2009 as an example.

They are mostly to be found in the Weather Discussion and Chat section because it was before the model stuff was hived off into its own section. So just on the Page x of x button and type in page numbers until you close in on the date you're interested in.

. Thanks for that! So great to read how Scotland fared during December 2009! Such an amazing time, the whole country it seemed was buzzing, everyone was so unprepared. How did it happen that such a huge event really wasn't predicted at all!
  11. Hi. just the feeling of the weather we have now, along with an early change of the flora and fauna. Seasonal forecasts are about as useful as a chocolate teapot as you know, with all respect! I just have this gut feeling without the complicated teleconections forecast, that a severe winter is in prospect! Ive said that to several people over the last two days , Ive not felt the same over the upcoming late Autumn, early winter since 2010

Oh.indeed, forecasting even short range I wouldn't bet my house on Lol I'd agree this year does "feel" different, feels like we're at least going to get s proper autumn, things do feel more like they should. Which goes for little I know, but its as accurate as a long range forecast I guess. Let's hope out water is right!
