Easily my favourite period of weather. My now ex wife was pregnant with our eldest and the heating packed up on 22nd December. Managed to get someone out to replace the boiler the following day, well, the landlady did.
I can distinctly remember sitting in the rocking chair by the living room window, fire on, Christmas decorations up, watching some teenagers walk past in the heavy snow, no coats on, absolutely frozen, thinking "kids are stupid".

Even if it did verify, at least then you would have had driving experience in ice and snow before you have to face those conditions.
Very true. Who knows, if I'm stuck in snow-bound traffic for 45 minutes, I can't fail the test

Wow, was I wrong! A good 4" over night, and it's just stopped
-
Not a cloud in the sky. Again.
-
-5 and frosty here. Very, very disappointing. I'm not expecting anything now

Not a cloud in the sky. Shame.

Stopped again, melting. BBC forecast just now putting emphasis on the NE to get the persistent snow Tues/Wed (right over to the NW) and hit and miss showers for the rest. Looks like the end of the week will be our best bet for something substantial.
First Sunday night into Monday, then Monday night into Tuesday, now end of the week, when it's going to, probably, warm up.

Heavy shower in Colchester
Snow in Chelmsford, snow in Colchester, nothing here in Braintree

Oddly, despite being above freezing, I have a couple of icicles above my window

A very light, floaty snow shower here in Braintree
-
Been coming down steadily for about 40 minutes now. Too wet to stick, though
-
Nothing here. Really disappointed for the kids, and me.
-
Just had a very light shower, but it was definitely snow
-
Down to - 7 here over night. Still at - 5. Just a shame we haven't had the snow to go with the cold

Been raining since about 7 this morning. Typical that when you get a decent amount of precipitation, it's wet, rather than white

Rain here too, dew point 4

Morning all,
From the front page of the BBC website
'Dozens of flights have been cancelled amid warnings of blizzard conditions set to sweep across the UK on Thursday.
London's Heathrow Airport said airlines had pre-emptively cancelled 46 departures and 31 arrivals, with disruption expected from 15:00 GMT.'
They are going to look a bit silly if the snow does not appear, or its only a dusting. I am flying out of Gatwick tomorrow afternoon, but no word from them at the moment, obviously made of sterner stuff.
Cheers
FC
That seems a bit silly to me. I'll just tell my boss now that I'm not coming in tomorrow, because of the snow.

I had to put it on last night. The kids bedrooms don't get any sun this time of year, so on came their radiators.
-
My 5 year old noticed last night that the sun had started to set before he went to bed. It does make it easier putting kids to bed when it's already dark/getting dark at their bed time.
-
Pregnant wife and little ones in the house may force my hand sooner than I'd like. It's certainly not going on just yet though. If it drops below 10° at night, I'll consider it
-
I'll plump for 15.1, please

A light dusting in Braintree. Despite the roads being clear, although very wet, the traffic is crawling
