It's a tough call but I am hopeful for Thursday. Been out and about all morning at work and we have had a few showers of Graupel even with nothing showing on the radar. It's proper bitter cold to.

GFS 00Z has the front Thursday/Friday stalling over NI and fizzling out, then another front Monday 15th, again not pushing East, nor the milder air winning out. We then get thrown back into an Easterly for a few days before a Northerly plunge lol.
So if this all goes the way the GFS is showing we could end up with quite a bit of snow on the ground which could stick around for for a while. GFS has been very consistent with Thursdays front.

Unfortunately, the front on Thursday/Friday doesn't look like reaching us now. Dies out as it pushes North East. Some snow for Southern counties though on the 12z GFS.
It's only one run but. Will be plenty of changes between now and Thursday. There will be quite a few on here getting in on the action on this run.

GFS on same page as ECM now.. maybe even better.....front stalls over Ireland from Thursday morning until Friday afternoon.....next front coming in makes it to west coast and gets pushed back out in to Atlantic as pressure builds again to our north east .....Met Eireann at 9.30 on RTE talking about widespread significant snow Thursday in to Friday mentioning Ireland being battleground between Atlantic fronts and blocking high to the east with Ireland still sitting in the colder air.....UK Met also only give a small chance of front reaching South west England......long way to go but this is shaping up very nicely.....also risk of snow falls up to then but currently amounts shown to be small on models for here but expect surprises to pop up .....exciting times.....and to top it all off looking like cold could dig in again the following week courtesy of scandi high ....hard to keep up ha
Defintely exciting times. Big snowfall later in the week then high pressure taking hold. Day time temps struggling means snow on the ground for quite a while. Reminds me of how 2010 went with snowfall at the start of December then minus temps for 4 weeks after. Not saying that's how it will pan out but very possible.

Getting back off the Glenshane might be the trouble!
That will do me nicely. Might find a back door in to the Ponderosa for a nice cold pint

That last chart looks perfect for a trek up the Glenshane. I wouod say it will be a Monday or Tuesday before we know how it will pan out.

ECM leaves basically the whole Island covered in snow Thursday and Friday ....smaller amounts up to then mainly in the east....
Any tasty looking snow charts to show us? Not sure how to access the ECM charts. I am quietly confident for the end of next week's. Its just too far away yet to get excited.

As I thought, Models already starting to firm up that Atlantic is not going to barrel through as previously shown....GEM, ECM and to lesser extent UKMO stalling the fronts over Ireland later next week with pressure building over Scandinavia.....any milder interlude if any looks fairly short lived......ECM snow accumulation charts showing most of Ireland covered in snow from 144 to 240, even though 850hpa temps are rising, as continental feed at surface still in place, with colder reload incoming....long way to run on this yet but increasingly models are coming in to line that Atlantic will be up against it....in the shorter term GEM showing much better snow shower distribution while other models are disappointing compared to amounts forecast for Britain....however shower activity will pop up with some lucky and others missing out, before potentially more widespread snowfall later in the week....brilliant seeing this all unfold.....also noticed 850hpa temps are projected lower next week than previously modelled with many places under -10 to -11 uppers....ground temps could struggle to reach freezing under those conditions and with low dew points, any snow that falls should hang around in most places......exciting week coming up.....
Ha I love the positivity. I've been quietly lurking in the background keeping an eye on things but posts like these make me happy As you say there is still a lot to be sorted regarding later next week and frontal snow.

The main part of your post is THE END OF NEXT WEEK. It's 7 days away. We don't even know what's coming Sunday never mind next Thursday. All to play for

Really close to a good event for all. There is a good covering on the hills around Derry especially towards Donegal. Snowline probably around 100/120m.

That would be great to see. Not a fan of Easterly setups but if we can get a battleground setting up or streamers coming in then we can do quite well. Still a long way off so we shall see what happens

Great to see that we are in with a chance of another good snowfall on Monday. Could be quite a lot. Its bitter cold out today.

Which direction is the flow do you think? I know it’s not likely to verify like that anyway.
Running through the charts it looks to be from the North.

Yeah been keeping an eye on the radar. Those showers just developed out of nowhere. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
