Nice convective line along the CF boundary (just happens to be situ along the welsh border right now.) convective uplifting occurring further north along the line also, which puts Cheshire and Derbyshire into contention for some activity within the next few hours. Still another 3 hours until sunset with residual heating still to play.
Do you think I have any hope or should I just give up?
-
No those will likely move in in the yorkshire direction, it is possible that some storms currently over / forming over north wales and the irish sea may make their way over, however.
Edit: Nvm posted ebfore you edited.
Do you think they'll hit me before heading into Yorkshire or will they move just north or south of me?
-
typical
just when I thought I'd got away with it
I'll take whatever you get off of your hands.
It feels like I have absolutely no chance here, unless those Welsh showers move up to me, but I severely doubt that.
-
I cannot honestly see where I'm going to get anything from. I might have to stop reading this topic, it's making me jealous.
-
Yes heading away northwards now, not hearing any more thunder. I still have some hope for later, but not much to be honest! Even something on my doorstep like the Sheffield cell would be better when skies darken this evening!
I just love the way that when it was about to hit you/us, it decides to shrivel up and run away.
I'm keeping my eye on these Welsh border showers, but I'm not holding much hope for them.
-
Ari, has it missed you completely now as well? I think the actual storm thought ''Hmm, getting close to Derbyshire, RETREAT!''
I honestly don't think I'll see anything all day now.
-
Enjoy whatever you get rest of the country, because the Chesterfield storm shield is in full effect right now. It feels like I might as well not bother, nothing's going to happen here.
-
Nope, the Sheffield beast is not hitting me.
I think that's it today for me.
-
I bet it was the same one I heard earlier. I wasn't even looking out of the window and I noticed a flash - must've been a powerful one as it is pretty bright out there anyway! Thunder from it was impressive Since then back to the more distant rumbles.
That makes me more hopeful. I need to 'patiently' wait for the next Rain Today radar. :winky:
EDIT: Oh, just had another too. Hurry up storm!
-
Just had my first rumble.
-
OH MY GOD, YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT UP, IT STOPPED BACKBUILDING JUST AS IT WAS ABOUT TO HIT ME!!!
Ahem...
-
Honestly. I have no idea! It keeps showing signs of backbuilding so you never know. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. Thunder continuing to the north here, skies are black. We have stayed dry though and no lightning seen yet.
Is anything happening near you yet?
-
Looks like this thing is going to coming over to me after all.
-
Not stupid but amuzing, I hope I get HIT as well
I'll be this thread's jester!
Dew point at 15C. Promising...
-
Can you fly?
:winky:
Sorry for the stupid posts. I'm just getting anxious, due to the paranoia of me not getting anything, that's all.
-
Frequent rumbles to the north now. If it were nighttime I'd have a great view of any lightning, but it's not so I'll have to make do with the thunder. It's pretty large though this storm and we have a poopload of midges in the back garden. Gotta love this weather!
I have a dark cloud advancing towards me. Do you think this thing will hit me?
-
Argh, I'm starting to have negative thoughts that nothing is going to hit me.
Patience... patience...
-
Looks like something over Sheffield which seems to be coming my way. Can anybody report what's happening there?
-
Still nothing here. When's the time I should be expecting something around here?
-
see post 76
Thanks, every reply has made me feel confident.
Bring it on... or something.
EDIT: Thanks Ari.
-
Can anyone tell me which direction that Pennine storm is heading and whether it's likely to hit me? Rain Today isn't really helpful in that regard. :winky:
-
Its pretty good, both ESTOFEX and Torro has put you smack bang in the watch area (along with me) So now its just a case of waiting and see what happens. We have a pretty good chance so the rest is up to Thor
I just warned my mother not to put any washing out- she said nothing would hit us. If she has wet clothes, it's not my fault. :winky:
-
Good, there is a thunderstorm 20 miles north of you!
Nice! I have to use Rain Today, so I'm a little behind!
-
Okay, I haven't done this for a while, so I'm overdue to ask somebody now (:winky:)- what are my chances for today? Just wanting the opinion of someone who has more knowledge than me.

One thing to say of all this- cop out.
It's not fair. Why does this rubbish town always miss out on everything?
