  1. I remember on 5th January 2010 we got about 4–5 cm of snow in Crosby and I was wondering what the fuss was about with all the traffic problems in Merseyside. I didn’t realise at the time that the rest of the region got a lot more than that.
  2. Interestingly my station at Crosby only measured 15.5 mm of rain yesterday Which is just under half what I received here. So either the sensor is not calibrated correctly or it does seem that I get more rain on this side of Liverpool in general as it’s happened before.
  3. They never seem to issue any warnings for Cheshire gap or wnw streamers. I know they are quite unpredictable but it was fairly obvious today was going to be a day of relentless streamers in some parts. You could tell that because of the low heights, low t500s, SB-CAPE and wind direction giving the longest open sea fetch.
  4. Non-stop showers here all dayalso. Nothing really in terms of vigorous convection but just non-stop. 27.1 mm of rain so far since midnight. 13.5 mm yesterday.
  5. Coldest t500s around late afternoon so heaviest showers should be around then. no lightning yet but I expect there will be a few around later..
  6. A bit windy here but nothing out of the ordinary. Also… Get in you reds! ️??
  7. I think it will feel a bit more wild later on when those showers come in and the wind ramps up as the low-pressure centre comes closer.
  8. Cloud came in too early. Didn’t give temp enough time to drop before precp.
  9. Yep a bit surprise no Hail or graupel this evening here, don’t know why. Wind will be backing SSE after midnight ahead of the low so could go quite close to freezing for a time.
  10. I can see us getting maybe up to 1 hour of wet snow on low ground perhaps given the low DPs at the beginning. I’m not ruling that out yet.
  11. Cold front about to come through if it’s heavy enough it may turn to snow for awhile for the lucky few above 250. Hasn’t been heavy enough thus far for even my forecast last night to be close. After this wind veers Westerly bringing a maritime layer and vigourous convection will soon build; this giving an afternoon of sunshine and heavy showers especially for the Cheshire gap. Expect hail, graupel, ice pellets and possible lightning.
  12. Perhaps of more interest tomorrow is a possibility of some more vigourous convection and large cumulonimbus developments in the afternoon as T500s drop to -35. A little lower than Saturday.
  13. @WillinGlossop Assuming you are exactly at 300 m, and going by the latest WRF: two hours of snow tomorrow morning giving 1 cm accumulation briefly, melting and turning to rain. Yuck. Tuesday, six hours moderate/heavy snow. 7.1 cm accumulation. This followed by light rain partially melting snow cover. Probably will all melt Tuesday night unless you have a frost.
  14. I’m going to have a look for you now see if I can guess an estimated total For fun.
  15. Had a nice afternoon at Manchester Christmas market today not much wind and sunny intervals. Didn’t feel like a bad day to me. Tuesday gets more interesting the more I look at it. Storm Barra looks like a beast. Seems to be an advection of dry cold ahead of the precip so the dew points are well down so freezing level not too important in this case.
  16. Should be a nice afternoon across the region as pressure rises. Anyone who gets an air frost tonight has a better chance of seeing something wintry tomorrow even if it is just ice pellets.
