Bit of a non-starter in my area today 8/8 cloud cover with drizzle for hours killed off any heating from the sun to trigger anything today.....unless it clears pretty quickly before sunset I think it maybe another day of oh wells around here
-
Well I got a weather warning for my area around 11am this morning so I waited, and waited..........and waited..................and waited.....but didn't even see any rain haha
-
Well saw some large cells pass South and North of me but nothing electrical....the downpours were welcome though.

The met Office should stop putting thunderstorm symbols on their forecast, because it means nothing will happen. They do it on purpose to spite me!
Snap....I've taken to looking out my window for heads up on Storms seems easier
-
Is that the outbreak over then or are we expecting another push from the South
Seen a bit of rain today but mainly suffered awful humidity all day so hoping another push might clear it if we're due one....if not cant complain saw a couple of flashes last night
-
Can confirm the storm an hour ago over Selby....just erupted from nowhere
Disappeared just as quick too after a few violent rumbles
-
Half hour of heavy rain at 17:45 and that was all mother nature wanted to give me
Oh well can see clear sky's to my SW now so tis all over once again

What "in theory" is the farthest distance you can see storms at night?
Looking at the forecasts may have to just head to a high point around and see remnants in the distance
-
Are these storms going on into the night or is that it for today?
-
Well I'm glad people are getting storms but I wont lie I'm JEALOUS as hell that I haven't even seen any rain this weekend
What possibilities is there of evening/night storms?
-
Here's the storm forecast for today
Cheers Paul
-
Sorry to post 2 blunt questions but
Are all storms today going to be in the south or is there a possibility for the north too?
AND
If anything is forecast for today is there a possibility of storms after dark
Dont fancy trawling through 30 pages of posts for a simple yes or no answer

Pretty big area the North of England, what you should say is Isolated areas of the North have had more storms, Ive heard 1 rumble since Sept 2011!
-
Wow RAF Waddington and all the crowd at the arrivals day are going to get hit rather soon!
Im there tomorrow lol
-
Heavy, heavy rainfall here but only now its past and well to my North can I hear rumbles of Thunder
Typical!
-
Looks quite an impressive line of storms building in the Holme on Spalding Moor/Market Weighton area
-
I'm under it now, plenty of heavy rain coming down although nothing of note in the electrical catergory
-
Here's the last storm that was close enough to observe Flashes and Thunder in, rather then just an odd rumble 10 or more miles away in the distance......date is 18.07.2007

There's a large cloud to my east but doesn't look to be developing into anything
Thats just to my South and there's another between our locations but nothing happening under both
-
Well its a nice suprise to see some electrical activity (even if its miles away) as I was starting to think the UK Storm season wasnt playing this year!
Doesnt help that kids are up and down my street on those mini scooter things that sound just like thunder as they go past on the pavement lol!
