Are these storms forecast to continue tonight?
Its been so long since ive seen a night storm i'd love that to happen!

Just had a storm bypass way to my east
...caught a few CG's through the haze although didnt get to see much, rather hefty soundubg thunder though -
Sods law that a storm passes to the North of me somewhere and one looks like it'll pass south of me, and yet im stuck in the middle working outside and nothing! :wacko:

so thought i'd say hello to my fellow storm deprived souls -
I'd guess that strike did NOT hit the building but was somewhere a few hundred yards away. The apparent strike visible in front of the building is a common artefact on video cameras and not the actual strike.
Yeah I freeze framed it and it does look like it hits A building but one behind the one he thinks it hits

Looking at the models I dont see any possible action this week
already started to pray to Thor for a decent August or I wont experience a storm in 2011 lol -
Does including us in with the thunderstorm risk on Estofex mean we're looking for action in France first as a sign of anything possible in the UK or is it just for ease of explanation on the diagram ?
Sorry I do try to be as clued up as possible reguarding weather and the warnings but sometimes I miss the explanations of the more obvious and relevant info because I cant see the forest for the trees

Haven't had a direct storm since 2009 and only storms I saw last year where ones way off to the North so dont know whose been telling you we get exciting weather

Hi Brian, fingers crossed for today! Shame we missed out yesterday after the potential and amount of rain. Have you seen any thunderstorms yet this year, only one ive seen was in Barcelona, not had one here in York since 2009 so heres hoping for today

Im to your East Paul and all ive had is sporadic rain from the edge of those clouds in your pics, everything seems to be towards the coast

I've had a pretty good season, so you must have been incredibly unlucky. I traveled to Bridlington two weeks ago where I was fortunate enough to be treated to a fantastic lightning display. I think if the storms won't come to you, it's best to go out and find them
Any storms in my area always die as they head North towards Doncaster area and come alive once North of York (really do have a circle I can draw on a map as my storm shied lol) and unfortunately chasing them isnt an option this year

Well 9pm on the 18th of July 2010 was the last time I saw a storm (quite a memorable one too) so I have 12 hours before my season is over for 2011 lol and unfortunately im not hopeful for anything either today....roll on 2012

1 instance of rain this storm season and plenty of wheelie bin sounds but thats closest ive got to a storm or rumble so count me in too

Cant see anything happening today in my area thanks to the rain thats hitting making today a rather damp squib...however im very thankful for the rain thats hitting our area so no grumbles (or rumbles lol) from me

Finally after over 4 months (and just in time for first game of footy lol) rain has arrived and its a very heavy downpour

Will do mate..A large ridge of cloud has started to bubble up to my West as I type, doesnt look to be producing rain yet but I think as it heads towards you it could be the first of many as its looking rather ominus as the structure builds

I can vouch for that, absolutly tipping it down! No thunder yet though..
And yet to the east of Leeds its blue sky above haha, weather can be strange at times :-D

I see NE England at a high risk of thorms today...whats new? *yawn*
Must admit, the way it's going the NW stormchase team will be forgetting the USA & instead booking flights to Newcastle for next years Great Plains (of the North East) storm season...It's quickly becoming the Mecca of storms!
I can tell you not all of the NE is great lol, ive only seen 2 showers since May the grass has a deep brown colour its been that dry :-(
