  1. Update from Mold, NE Wales, about 10 miles from Chester - been snowing since 9 o'clock, started to stick to wet surface at about 10.30/11. Now accumulated about an inch and building really fast. Very heavy snow still. I though this was going to be a slush-out but now it will defo be a shut school day tomorrow. I'd be surprised if I make it down the hill to Birkenhead for work but that depends what its doing there. I just (accidentaly) did a 270 spin on the main roundabout coming into Mold which was fun
  2. Out of region I know, but sticking well in Mold, NE Wales now - very heavy and blowing. Anyone in Birkenhead? Wondering what it's doing around Bidston to assess my work chances tomorrow.
  3. After failing to stick in Mold, it's now like someone threw a switch. Suddenly must have reached a saturation point and now building up steadily. Very heavy blowing snow - got to pick son up from work in 10 mins and it aint going to be an easy drive!!!
  4. As an update from Mold, all snow now and blowing hard BUT the temps aren't low enough yet and its falling on a wet surface due to earlier sleet. Expecting to wake up to 2cm of slush at the moment.
  5. Someone needs to tell the weather that because its wet sleet here in Mold atm and were at 125m!!!
  6. Just started here in Mold, NE Wales - a lot of rain in it at the moment and we're at 125m asl! Im sure it will turn to snow completely but we might be too wet first!
  7. Anyone got a link to the latest NAE for tomorrow? Heavyish snow in Mold at the moment after a day of continuous light to moderate snow that seemed to recede as soon as it fell. This new burst has stuck - added about 3cm in the last hour or so now that the temps have dropped
  8. Heavy snow in Mold for the last 2 hours nearly having been snowing at least lightly since 8 this morning. It's added another inch at least where its stuck to Fridays snow but its not quite cold enough to add to anywhere where the snow wasn't lying such as our path - melted instantly here and not been able to make its own layer.
  9. Fairly heavy snow now in Mold, 120m asl. The radar seems to have us in a direct line from the south east and we could be in for a good top-up. I was mocking the bbc forecast last night with its thin finger of snow reaching up to the ne of Wales -didn't look very plausible but spot on again.
  10. Still snowing in Mold. Snowed without stopping since 6.15 this morning. Still quite heavy now, having picked up again in the last half hour. 3 inches lying snow - better than I expected after yesterday's evenings doom and loom up in the north.
  11. Not so much down the hill in Mold - hasn't really stuck so only 1cm. Waiting for the main event still.
  12. Same in Mold - nothing on radar but snowed lightly for 5 hours. Not complaining - just a thin layer atm though I think the precipitation over Ireland is heavier as it's over land - that's what it will look like when it's over you!!!
  13. I was looking at that and wondering where the hell it would go when it met - will it go east or west or get squeezed up north?
  14. Light snow in Mold here, NE Wales, 120m asl. Is there any chance of streamers setting up in Irish Sea before the main front arrives or is the wind already from the SE? Oh - and why does the met office show the amber warning as red at the moment or has this already been discussed - only just got in?
  15. Me too - never seen snow pile up so quickly - that came to me in NE Wales about 3pm from the south
  16. If you click on the days though, it shows sleet on Friday as well, and rain on Saturday. Hope you get an upgrade!
  17. Snowing now in Mold in the NE. 120m asl. Very light though. Should give a dusting.
  18. Woke up to a thin layer of snow - the ONLY snow this winter so far - less than a cm. Hey ho - roll on sping!
  19. Snowing since about 8 o'clock in Mold, NE Wales. It has 'stuck 'in the slushy sense of the word. About 2-3cm of it but it's the sort that sort of melts as soon as you stand on it. Better than no snow but not the 'good' snow I was hoping for. The belt of precipitation streaming down the Irish sea looks like it's good for another hour or two of it.
  20. Pretty sure the Urals are a good few hundred miles East of that snowline.
  21. Just to chip in - we had fantastic snow in the Clwydians in Flintshire winter before last (1st week of Jan onwards). Masses of the stuff on a par with anywhere else at the time. We look down on the Cheshire Plain. If I remember, this pushed in largely from the South, but my brain may have been addled by excitement. Just a lurker by the way, who loves the chit-chat (and rowing) that goes on between you more knowledgeable chaps. Looking forward to the next 5 months of it - 1st thread I look at every day. Thanks to all!!
  22. Thank you all. @ Mike, the dam and 850 temps are on the netweather snow forcast . Best wishes to all,
