  1. Update from Mold, NE Wales, about 10 miles from Chester - been snowing since 9 o'clock, started to stick to wet surface at about 10.30/11. Now accumulated about an inch and building really fast. Very heavy snow still. I though this was going to be a slush-out but now it will defo be a shut school day tomorrow. I'd be surprised if I make it down the hill to Birkenhead for work but that depends what its doing there. I just (accidentaly) did a 270 spin on the main roundabout coming into Mold which was fun mega_shok.gif

  2. Light snow all day here. Light dusting only as melting as fast as it settles...settling a bit more now as temp has fallen from ~3C to 1.5C. For some reason MO radar showing no precipitation in vicinity at present? Any chance NE Wales is gonna steal the heaviest falls from you Southerners tomorrow? 😊
Same in Mold - nothing on radar but snowed lightly for 5 hours. Not complaining - just a thin layer atm though

Looking at the radar the heavier bursts currently further north than South Wales and more into Southern Ireland - am I missing something here or is the angle of attack taking a more northerly route? It looks like a narrower band initially and I have a funny feeling my curtains will be open to just an inch of snow and having to go to work in Cardiff all apologetic becasue they will blame me for the fact there is no snow.

I think the precipitation over Ireland is heavier as it's over land - that's what it will look like when it's over you!!!

  3. Been snowing in Glyn Ceiriog all day - ranging from small polystyrene balls to big wet flakes, and settling on untreated roads and fields, only about a couple of centimetres lying but have a small chopped forest by the wood burner, have made bread, risotto supper ready to go and last weeks borgen on the laptop with a glass of wine - will worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

    Can I come round?

  4. Snowing since about 8 o'clock in Mold, NE Wales. It has 'stuck 'in the slushy sense of the word. About 2-3cm of it but it's the sort that sort of melts as soon as you stand on it. Better than no snow but not the 'good' snow I was hoping for. The belt of precipitation streaming down the Irish sea looks like it's good for another hour or two of it.

  5. Just to chip in - we had fantastic snow in the Clwydians in Flintshire winter before last (1st week of Jan onwards). Masses of the stuff on a par with anywhere else at the time. We look down on the Cheshire Plain. If I remember, this pushed in largely from the South, but my brain may have been addled by excitement.

Just a lurker by the way, who loves the chit-chat (and rowing) that goes on between you more knowledgeable chaps. Looking forward to the next 5 months of it - 1st thread I look at every day. Thanks to all!!

  6. The 528 metre line is generally regarded as the dividing line between snow and rain.

'Ere, I've just checked, I don't get the thickness levels or the 850 millibar temps on my local forecasts - Am I missing something here?

Thank you all. @ Mike, the dam and 850 temps are on the netweather snow forcast :D.

    Best wishes to all,
