Wasn’t sure where to post this so this seemed as good as any. Currently overseas and hotel took a direct hit from a storm. I was sat on a wall still wet from the rain/pool when a bolt hit very very close. So close in fact I felt a surge of electricity in one leg, it involuntary kicked out and hairs all stood on end. I clearly wasn’t ‘struck’ but what was it? Pain was like a strong electric shock over in a second. Loudest thunder I’ve ever heard to finish it off . I’m guessing as I was wet I took some of the electric discharge??

Central London getting obliterated. Caught out in it for 2min ... soaked to the skin. Biblical rain, overhead lightning

Rumbling away nicely in Bexley. Pleasantly surprised

Does anyone know when the last time it rained in north kent? I'm thinking it was late May?
I am pretty sure it was also late May but was it 2016 or 2017?

Evening all
HUGE storm here in East Ham and across East London. Probably the strongest storm I've experienced in more than a decade of living in this part of the world. Serious hail and torrential rain for a good 15-20 minutes but now passed.
Watching it from my vantage point in SE London. Bone dry and sun out. Lovely view

Sat in the garden in Bexley watching the beast grow. Amazing how quick this has got going. Heading away from me sadly further into London but rumbling away constantly

Increible scenes here in Hither Green.
Incesent lightning and constant thunder...without a pause! Rainfall biblical.
Meanwhile 5 miles away ... calm as anything with distant flashes

Loads of High level lightning here but no rain and no hint of ininant problems. All still sat in the garden in Bexley soaking up the spectacle

Bexley has joined the party. Zilch to white in 15min. Easing off now but at least we’ve seen some ?

I’m a bit obsessed with the Mod thread. Talk about chasing the pot of gold. They all discuss models which are 10 days away (and therefore statistically no better than a coin toss) and because they suggest snow suddenly it’s due to become a snow event like one never seen before. Then it moves a bit closer to D Day and as the models leasen the impact (which they do every EVERY time) and the board falls into chaos.
What exactly are they all hoping for? Just seems to the forum equivalent of purgatory! Makes for great reading :0)

I was thinking same but sadly I've had a typical Friday night and don't fancy doing a Rooney !

Visually the best storm of the year by a stretch. Like others have said not a drop of rain but a joy to watch

Great view from Bexley. Was this expected?? Enjoying it anyway

Very(!) strong gusts in Central London. Almost like a squall line going through. Lasted 2mins if that or so. Calmed down again now

Sun is shining, it's raining overhead and we also just had a rumble! What a wonderful day.
Sun?? I wish ... Monsoon here in bexley village. Has been for 20mins or so. Just slowing up now

River through Bexley Village almost to the top of its banks this morning. Wasn't even half full yesterday. Insane rainfalls overnight

I think we're about to get hit in about 20 - 30 mins.
Here's hoping ... Ready and waiting

Appreciate the replies. Never felt anything like it. Took cover further into the bar area and the next strike hit the lightning conductor on the roof. Saw the sparks fly off it. Never felt power like it. The waiter gave the sign of the cross which made me laugh. Intense 30mins. Love this part of the world
