Had 18 holes of golf this afternoon at Kenmore. Hands were freezing for the first few holes and the score reflected this One shower about half way round but then drier with wind easing. Frost to come shortly once cloud clears. Had enjoyable time though playing with your big brother @bigyin
Aye, I'm still lurking away! Though winters back so probably the odd post too great to hear @Norrance. Hope you still beat him! He's got a bit of time on his hands now right enough so annoyingly beats me, the bar steward.

Back at original home and good snowfall yesterday, turned to rain in afternoon before fizzling out, and this morning now frozen few inches of concrete. Looks nice though, and fun yesterday. lots of power cuts most of yesterday. Might catch a snow shower later today, then later tonight looks promising. Happy hogmanay!

Hi all, just patches and pesky ice left here in west of city - will be glad to see the ice gone.
Are we getting some "fresh" in time for the big man and end of the week? Still looks a good possibility, but getting a bit edge of the seat stuff with a lot of scatter, and some delays to the northerly. Looked good agreement to me between means of GFS and ECM to me, once you cut through the MO thread noise. But mean is meaningless ?

That area of the Southern Central Highlands just to the North of the Central belt certainly looks to have been the sweet spot. The Killin area also had a good fall with cars stranded at Lix Toll.

Hi all, still lurking...
Awoke from summer slumber and been meaning to post since. Great start to winter here. Picture from front garden couple nights ago. Hard frost all day, but stayed dry here.
Picture of "unusual " icicle from friends in East Lothian. Little snow there it seems. And Picture this afternoon looking out the window to Loch tay from family, not that you can see the loch today!

Out of hibernation again. Not in a pleasant way this year. Stay safe everyone. I've not seen a system quite like this before and genuinely a little bit myself.

I think we got lucky in Rhodes. Sunny, though keen wind at times. Mid 20s but as another poster mentioned nights chilly.
We usually are there earlier in month and this year at least then the weather turns through October. Still very pleasant, but the earlier the better I guess.

Hi all. I'm heading to Rhodes on the 16th October for a week. I often go at that time and been lucky to get good weather. Outlook looks a bit mixed though. Anyone with any experience of that area an takes?

Thaw on now I'd say, or at least snow disappearing in a different way to last couple of days. Showers I think now done for hear. Bit of warmth in the sun. Quick lunch walk at the golf course and even there a mile to west seem to have missed most of snow that hit the city. Dogs had fun in the drifts. And a slow mo of the last flakes of this spell ?

Morning. Looks like Aberdeen faired fairly well if it's snow you are after. Overnight radar showed some quite persistent light to moderate snow early hours then again towards end of night. A few cm of fluffy snow this morning.
Sun had started to dent it earlier but clouded over now with light snow back on again. Looks quite a big streamer inbound. Hopefully the last of this spell!! . Looking forward to some spring warmth-ish tomorrow.

Light covering reinstated overnight. Maybe a cm or two, but blown around/away largely. On heavy again just now.

Exciting weather. Wind blowing it bare, then sun melting other than drifts, then another squall comes in. Thus one of the better ones so far at lunchtime, though on heavy again. severe windchill

Light dusting of powdery snow. Just enough for a sledge. After fronts not much more happened here overnight, but heavy snow showers since dawn and radar continues to look pretty active

Fairly heavy snow. Temp down to 1c, dp just sub zero. Fat flakes, sticking. Think there might be a reasonable covering in the morning

Thought I'd get a few tabs organised for weather watching for the next few hours or days. Lol. Wunderground website usability seems to have deteriorated and is now utter pants. Trafficscotland website seems designed to discourage you from looking at more than one location.
Can anyone suggest any useful weather links?
Currently 10C and the wind seems to be easing somewhat - it was a pretty good gale a couple of hours ago.
It's really annoying for easy webcam views.
Windy has a few good ones and can see weather conditions too. The more you zoom in the more pop up:
Also this but a bit limited.
Temp down from 12c to just under 7c in 45 mins.

been awoken from my hibernation a bit early this year. Hope everyone is well. Currently 13c on my garden thermo, but it's coming. Kinda hard to believe, but temps dropping fast further north now. Be interesting to see what comes by the morning. Gave the birds double helpings this morning, poor buggers in for a shock!

Nice in the north east. Cold breeze, but nice in the sun and there has been lots of that, and lots more then next 4 days. Think the breeze is forecast to fall light too so good. Noticeable day by day the stretch in daylight hours.
Still looks a probable cool down by the end of the first week of March to back below the seasonal average. Colder, but not that cold. Still some -10 breaches in the ensembles in outer reaches, in fact a couple as soon as a week's time. Not much support - yet!

Morning all. Another bright enough day today. Looks a bit blowy and dreich tomorrow for most, then long rangers paint a fairly dry picture well in to next week with temperatures well above the seasonal average (to my eye anyway). Very usable weather! Thereafter, still signs of a cool down to average or below average further in to March. Who knows, but a few ensembles still breach -10C and a fairly consistent cluster now that are well below -5C so will feel very chilly again and a shock the nature after this next 7-10 days. We'll see.

Was up for a peddle with the kids at the park yesterday afternoon and noted that while still plenty of drift and patches (and ice on paths - not fun!), the burns were really full and water now runnign off everywhere. Streams where there are not normally streams, etc. Looking at the snow gate cameras (love that site!) they all look damp but still holdign lots of snow - hopefully the the slower slaw continues, rather than the faster kind here.
Found a dead bird under the last pile of snow in the back garden, which has now melted (snow, not the bird, though it is decaying - yuch!). I must have not noticed and happened to have given it a ceremonial temporary burying last week. It looks like a very small hawk. Would post a photo, but something has eaten it's head clean off - will take a photo and clip it perhaps. Do these hawks attack each other? It looked like a smaller version of the attached (old photo of "something" eating a pigeon it caught in our old house back patio).
Oh yeah, weather, windy and wild - I'm weird and quite like this sort of weather. Just as well for me, as looks like for here at least we have a good while of rinse and repeat going on.
It was just a Thrush after all!
Anyway, been a few nice days, a few damp days here. Nice just now, damp later, so getting out with the dugs now. Outlook looks like pressure rising and very little rain in the ensembles. Will take that - get out in the garden. a few more members dipping below -10 in the outer reaches. Still hopeful of some further wintry excitement in to March.

Bit more like it today up at the golf course. Bit more of a sleety mess in city, and wet down at harbour.
