It's funny that yet again the models were not quite right with regards to snow. It has came more west than forecast, and the warning was essentially updated only as it happened.
It's what I love about winter, so many surprises whether they be good or bad. Certainly keeps you on your toes.
indeed. subtle changes in wind direction have helped us here i think. fingers crossed the precipitation doesn't decay
-
How about if we all get a battering and there's an upper trough moving southwest that's developing and none of the models have picked up on !
Back In the day that would happen aswel just not now !
possible!
Almost looks like there's some circulation in the system heading in from the Wash
i noticed that but thought my eyes were playing tricks again

If you knew me you would no I'm always the optimist , and the optimism that's in me is looking at the radar and seeing the area of snow not only heading our way but building and back building with a little band behind it growing and the band growing to the northern side of it toward Stoke ! Maybe we will get a battering and all the models are wrong LOLA ! Back in the day they was , just not anymore
oh i love what you are saying! also note MO just extended warning showing westwards progression at 8.08pm! I'll have my hair cut at yours next fella - remember?

Hello Nights, I would be very surprised it if even reached our region . At present it is intensifying and spreading but most offthe time this winter these thing eithe fizzle out or just rain , now I don't think it would be rain this time round so the fact remains can it reach us!!!!
certainly wouldn't be marginal this time if it did reach us. very cold out there

looks like we have another occasion where shower activity has pepped up a little more that first though. And apparently heard fergie (IF) has said westwards progression that shown on currently modelling...
sorry bad typing, * more westwards progression that initially modelled
-
just looked at radar and was surprised to see precipitation coming across leicester area so swiftly. i am living in dream world that this has the potential to cross our region? apologies if already been discussed but just logged in

Even on the BBC weather charts they show the original Low going well west, Sunday/Monday followed by an occluded front/trough on Monday down the western side and another trough on Tuesday down the centre of the UK, so certainly not cut and dried.
good analysis, cheers

Evening all quick question anyone know why there is warnings with met for midlands x looking at radar theres not much for us
shower activity expected to pop up in the early hours, and some have already in staff/warks
-
Seems like you've given up - I did wonder if the 'blank image' would appear sideways as well?
Every Fax chart I have seen is different - come back at T+0 to find out the answer.
Managed to scrape 11 together - as long as it's a respectable scoreline I won't be too bothered.
Re tues then, model uncertainty at that range is going to lead to some surprises no doubt. and I'm sure they will be good surprised when we are in an embedded cold regime

I think we all need to forget the 4 days of positive Monday/Tuesday snowfall talk as it disappeared as expected so it seems my hat is safe for now after I promised to eat it and post a video if it came to fruition.
well i guess one positive then is that mobile westerly pattern won't make much inroads
-
incidentally, any one know the current thinking is re tuesday? previous talks of potential persistent and disruptive snow..

and incidentally, what is the current thinking on tuesday? previous talks of potential persistent and disruptive snow...
Yh lets hope we get some luck like last night and it intensifies over us

maybe, repeat of last 3 nights, where i've had covering of snow, if anything lies tonight, expect again fast thaw tomorrow
yeah thats the problem as thaw likely again of any lying snow. never happy are we; had 2cm last night but in the morning was grumpy as it was thawing!
-
can't see anything on radar yet, that we are likely to get later, light snowfall. Where we supposed to be looking`?
coming down from the north, albeit likely patchy. eta midnight for north glos
-
what are our thoughts on the patchy light snow passing through later? warning is covering wide area for 1-2cm and possibly more (up to 5cm quoted). given this warning there are obviously ingredients present for it to potentially pep up - like last night but that event went under the radar as it were (sorry bad pun)

Kumquat if it makes you feel any better we have rain/sleet here and nothing settled! Temps were just not low enough here, gutted. Hey ho might get some settling snow at some point this year. Right off to bed.
and i think i can see the slow slide of snow cover on a distant windscreen, temp must had risen a fraction here
-
and just as i said that its started again!
Yes lovely currently a little dusting so far, looks to be pushing through the back end of the showers quicker, slow down!
yeah this has moved through pretty quickly
-
stopped here now but that streamer behind is aligning pretty well for my location! no doubt will be pretty transient tho....

2cm now and pretty heavy. certainly heavy relative to not having seen a flake last year!
-
Got to be done matey! It's so close now I can almost taste it
I know I must sound like some hyper kid but this morning, I totally wasn't expecting to see any snow for the foreseeable future. So for this to pop up at such short notice and you couple that with the fact i've only seen a sugar dusting of snow in 2 years...
Makes me very excited at the prospect of a covering
and there is tomorrow night/early hours which might also bring some interest!
