A very wintry mix in the shower just now!

5.0 degrees and dropping

The temperature has just risen from 6 to 7 degrees accompanied by a shower. Within the last 10 minutes the temperature has literally gone from 7 to 6.1 degrees.
The showers are getting heavier now.

The CFS tonight is paradoxical in that it has downgraded tomorrow nights snow and has upgraded Wednesday's potential to provide some wintriness.

Looks like a frosty end to November then.

I think Monday night into Tuesday morning is going to be the best time to produce snow, however at the moment I think it could be just sleet around the coast looking at the met office map. Hope it changes.

Today's output is a little disappointing in terms of any substantial snowfall, it looks like the main thrust of the cold air is slightly east, certainly a downgrade from last night, still better than mild SW's but still a let down from the previous days. Do you think it will change back to a more pronounced Northerly shown in previous days?

Its still a pretty transient affair in terms of the very cold air that is across the UK, if the high were to move over and centre itself over the UK after the original cold blast then it could have turned frosty and foggy, unlike with the likely scenario of NW/W air stream. However, over the medium term conditions look good for potential cold blasts.

Out of interest is there any evidence to suggest we are experiencing less northerly events and more easterly events. It must be several years since the last major northerly.

Looks like from Friday the cold spell will end according to CFS, it's been hinting at this for the last couple of days.

Temperature is 1.4 degrees outside and all the snow has melted, I felt that the temperatures just didn't get low enough for any meaningful snow here in the north west.

The temperature in L'derry is 4.1 degrees, hopefully it will drop more.

After wishing that the band of precipitation would move west, now I am now hoping that it moves a little east, as there is little precipitation for any snow in the area that I live according to the BBC/metoffice.

Has any noticed the lack of a real northerly blast which usually provided must parts with snow, recently the last couple of years there hasn't been anything great - its usually an easterly or north easterly.

The BBC national weather forecast is going for wet conditions for Northern Ireland perhaps some hope for early next week - we live in hope

How reliable is the Jamstec model, as it is predicting a rather mild winter for Europe
