Just looked out of the office window and the sky looks full of it!!!
oOHerbie says it is snowing in reading and that is under 15 mins from me
I want a BLIZZARD!!!!!
-
Woke up to a reasonable dusting this morning and it has continued with fine snow ever since. Did have a spell of some very decent sized flakes a while ago but back to fine now.
Not settling anymore from what I can see from the office window.

Apologies that I haven't a chance to read through the last pages but i'm at work...
Just wondering if anyone thinks this shocking snow falling in the US and Canada might come our way? I haven't had a chance to check any weather in the last week or so :/
Fair Play North Hampshire.
SunGirl, I don`t think it works like that that their snow comes across the atlantic to us as it would be as rain. I have heard many people say what N.Y gets we get but i can`t see that somehow, but i`m open to correction as i`m no expert.
Hiya I think you're being hopeful. A traditional Norwester is down to circumstance, as the low leaves the area it turns into one fo those good ol' soggy Atlantic lows when it gets to us. Just because it all glued together there, it wont here.
OK - thanks for the replies. Ever the optimist I suppose

It confused me. I googled knakingfore and it doesn't exist... Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings? lol ?????????????????? Dare I Google some of that little lot.
A fair thaw going on here but we have also had a fair few snowflakes to add to the tally today too.
More sleety/wet snowy areas are still showing up well on the radars but eventually I feel it will be too warm for snow, more especially come tomorrow for most.
Thaw definately setting in here.

Primary concern now uplands W Somerset and Forest of Dean. Decent break now across many central areas extending west, but potential for more to follow later behind. I'm quite hopeful situation for main urban areas (e.g. Bristol) will now be largely improving, not least given wet snow story and vehicular traffic helping to clear it in next couple of hours before it all falls quieter. Morning rush might well be fine for these areas, but story over parts of Mendips Plateau and other uplands will be far less pretty for travellers. Next major issue will be into weekend as rapid thaw, with heavy rain too, conspires to bring flooding issues. Could get pretty bad for some (again). But at least the freeze gets swept-aside very readily, so the scope of transport/services disruption of late will ease.
Hi Ian - any prediction for Bracknell area please?
-
Stopped here for now.
Am I wrong in thinking that it will be back a bit later? Anyone?
-
Zooming in on the radars, it seems that as soon as the heavier ppn gets near me, it fizzles out!
I am seriously considering using a fire blanket on my open fire just in case I am creating too much heat
-
Snowing like mad here, no settling on the already settled snow.
It's slowed right down here Hoping for more soon!
-
A car went past my house at 19:07. The tracks are covered with snow now
-
OMG WHITEOUT !!!
Where? I'd love to see a proper blizzard/white out!
Col Berkshire - you must be very near to me. I have sideways snow too and over 1cm already
-
Whoop whoop!
We have +1cm and it has got heavier with bigger flakes!
I can see us getting the brunt of this (or is that wishful thinking?)
-
We have easily had 1cm here. Road is now white!
-
Looking at radar grabs/ppn forecasts for OUR region, would think that area/triangle between Basingstoke/Bracknell/Guildford should do pretty well perhaps 10 cms+ possible and further south on Hants/Sussex border.
Not expecting much here in S.E.London, could squeeze a reasonable covering I suppose.
Regards,
Tom.
It's difficult being right in the middle of two regions

Heavy snow in Reading for last 20 minutes. Settling on cars, roads etc.
Fairly heavy here in bracknell but very fine flakes... like we had on sunday.
It is settling even on the wet roads!
-
I think some areas in the bullseye zone of Surrey / Berkshire / North Hampshire could get at least a foot infact
It's due to go on for about 9hrs, lots of yellow and red pulses so let's say the average is 3-4mm an hour for that time that's 27-36cm which is 12-15 inches
a foot! I so wish you were right about that !
-
a few wet flakes here in bracknell
temp still 2.2c
dp -0.1
-
Few wet flakes finally falling here!
DP -0.1c at last!
Temp still 2.2c though :/
-
Snowing in Aldershot - friend is there atm.
That is not far from me so i'm off up the shop for a bottle of wine for lamp post watching
-
Just went to check the lamp post outside my house, and the bloody thing is broken! How am I supposed to feed my obsession now?! I really had hoped to get stuff done today, but at the slightest mention of snow within 100 miles of my door I downed tools and have been glued to this forum.
Must get out more.
That made me laugh so much! I down tools at the very mention of snow too! Been sat on my ass for the last 3 hours - not even had a cuppa!
-
Unless dewpoints drop sharply here in Berkshire and the air temperature also falls below freezing, I'd be surprised if we got more than a covering from this. The laying snow has been melting steadily all day and we now have drizzle falling. Not great conditions for big wet flakes to produce 7 inches!
DP has dropped from 0.9 to 0.3c in the last 40 mins.... I am remaining hopeful
-
DP dropped fast to 0.5c!
temp stable at 2.2c tho ...
-
GTLTW - what is it doing in newbury now?
Absolutely nothing here still despite radar showing otherwise

Hello everyone
As usual, the possibility of some extreme weather has brought me here again!
I have to say, I dread high winds as I am a poor home owner of an aging house and fear for my roof and suchlike I do much prefer the anticipation of snow.
I wonder what Bracknell can expect this weekend?
It is lovely and sunny at the moment! 17.4c!!!
