  1. +1.3C nothing coming out of the sky that you can see by lamp light.
  2. +1.5C, 100% sleet now, but very light. That's enough for me to open a bottle of Blackberry 2009.
  3. Down to +1.8C , dropped of 0.5C in 20 mins. Sleet mixed with light rain now. Wind picking up. Lots horrid out there... more coal needed.
  4. +2.4C down 0.6C in 20minutes. Still rain, still very fine but a bit more intense. Can't detect anything frozen in it.
  5. +3C down from +3.5C an hour earlier. Light, fine (albeit very cold) rain here.
  6. Talk about local variations.... -5.3C here in Curdridge and 0C down by the sea 15 miles away.
  7. Thanks: I use Netweather a great deal - but not got around to posting before. Astronomers spend more time than most studying the weather. Unfortunately forecasting cloud cover is even more difficult than forecasting snow. And yes - lots of affordable kit out there these days angled at the beginner - much more fun than Amusing yourself to Death watching the telly This isn't an astronomy forum, but the this weather does make the stars look amazing and worth the cold.
  8. Yup, Jupiter is out tonight as well. These cold & dry uppers are the ticket - very good transparency. Pity that front is going to wreck it all saturday evening and give us a load of that nasty white wet stuff.
  9. That star on the west horizon was probably the planet Venus.
  10. No sane astronomer is out on a night like this.... we're all tucked up inside with remote control -5c now in Curdridge.
  11. -4.2C in Curdridge, I reckon the thermometer is malfunctioning. These cold uppers are great for astronomy, but I'm glad I can operate the telescope from indoors.
