Well it's rather chilly here with that wind. We're just back from a local outdoor event and we were all very cold even with winter jackets on. Very unusual for the time of year. And if this was just an unusual day it wouldn't be so bad, but it's been mostly cold, cold, cold since autumn (what season is it anyway? )

I like some snow as much as the next person but I love good old seasonal weather more - where is Spring? Looking at MO warning, we shouldn't be getting snow here but it's been snowing for the last hour. Has that huge band of precipitation moved slightly further north than they anticipated?

Just measured 6cm on the flat here, with 15cm drifts. Wonder what overnight will bring?

A full on blizzard here and settling quickly

Been snowing for almost an hour here but getting lighter now. Anyone know what's happening with the forecast? Has it all come early and will now turn to rain or is it meant to snow a lot more later like met office says? I'm confused.

Same here Blitzen, we've had so many flurries over the last few days and some proper snow showers, all landing on frozen ground but nothing accumulating. Very strange.

Thanks, I do read this forum a lot but I suppose lately I've been trying to look too far ahead so have got lost in the quicksand of the model thread! LS and Lorenzo are like my weather gods lol, I'm always eager to see what they have to say

Thank goodness for the haven of the kilted thread with grounded posts after trying to make sense of the model thread. As a relative newbie, I'm getting very confused! These might be silly questions, but why are people (model thread) all so sure that zonal weather is nailed a few weeks away, when only a few days ago the models were predicting something entirely different? Can't it all just change back again? And looking at some of the charts this morning, there looked to be a lot of polar air coming over the UK from the west, with well below 528dam air - does this mean rain/zonality when it's from the west? Does it only produce cold/snow when coming from the east? I felt like I was learning but feel like I'm back to square one again!

Hoping Santa will bring me a wee weather station for Christmas, but until then I can report it's freeeeezing degrees outside! Not sure whether to be excited or scared by the model thread at the moment but looking forward to checking the forums tomorrow morning to find out what the 00z brings.

Just started snowing here lightly and lying straight away on solid frozen ground

About 2-3cm snow here at 140m asl, the trees looking very pretty :-)

What an amazing picture Lorenzo, love it I love walking in the pentlands, just never been brave enough to go up in the snow yet!
