  1. A question for the more knowledgeable ones here please and apologies if has already been asked: As I live in the north west of the region I wonder why at the moment we don't have a lot of snow forecast for my region while the famous 91 easterly was excellent for all regions. Is the setup differnet with this easterly? Thanks
  2. Yes this is from the meto UK Outlook for Monday 19 Feb 2018 to Wednesday 28 Feb 2018: Dry, sometimes bright weather and light winds will predominate in the UK throughout next week, with increasing amounts of overnight frost. Rain or drizzle and stronger winds are possible at times in northwestern areas. Temperatures at the start of next week will be around average for the time of year, and probably slightly above average in the north. However, there will be a trend toward colder weather by the end of the week and into the following week, as winds turn predominately easterly. Wintry showers may develop, with the potential for some significant snowfalls focused on southern, central or eastern areas. The location and intensity of any snowfall will be uncertain until much nearer the time.
  3. After 2 hours of heavy snow here in Dunstable we have a covering ( 2-3 cm but more in the hills) but I think it started to turn sleety now.
  4. I visited Chamonix 9 years ago . Thanks for the information.
  5. Thanks for the blog and the valuable information. I'm planning to stay near Chamonix in France from 25 December until the new year. Was reading in other places that it might turn mild during this period so would really appreciate your thoughts about the latest for Chamonix. Thanks!
  6. Some photos from my lunch time walk at Rushmere Country Park near Dunstable. It was still icy and the lake was almost completely frozen. There was a little bit of snow left as well which has survived for about 10 days so far.
  7. Most of the snow has now melted in Dunstable but the surrounding hills still have some which might survive for few days
  8. Went out for lunch an hour ago and it is still very icy in some of the pavements. See first photo. The hills around Dunstable still has some snow but it is melting (see second photo)
  9. Same here in Dunstable. Children were struggling walking to school this morning.
  10. Some pictures from Sunday and Monday in Ashridge forest near Dunstable
  11. Wendover Woods (highest point in the Chiltern) usually get some snow in similar setups. It should be half an hour drive once you reach the A41 if you live in north west london. Obviously no guarantee but it is a nice forest even if no snow is foud there. I will keep you updated about this during the next few days with regard to any snow cover in the Chilterns area.
  12. Whipsnade village this morning. I think I only had 10% of my snow fix this winter so far.
  13. Some photos from a walk earlier in Wendover forest. It was amazing!
  14. It seems the latest met office extended outlook for 8 November to 17 November mention the s word for the high ground of the south east
  15. Thanks Mark. Yes hopefully I don't have to drive all the way to the lake district this winter to see proper snow
