  1. Its #snowmaggedon here north of Chester, probably similar to Backtrack 4-5 cm heavy /large flakes blowing sideways in stiff wind, visibility poor
  2. Very heavy, about 3/4 - 1 inch already, schools closed across Flintshire, some Chester schools closing now, all a bit too late, poor parents !
  3. Heavy snow now, started at 0715, everything covered v. quickly
  4. Nice covering building up been snowing here lightly since 315pm
  5. Can anyone remember Jan 1979, north Cheshire Merseyside snow event, it was the biggest i can remember. if i remember correctly, it came from a low pressure system slipping south eastwards
  6. while we all muse around later events, has anyone noted current temps at Valley 4.0 and Hawarden 3.3, not temps associated with snow of any kind
  7. v.light snow continues to fall, noticeable slight accumulations on lawn, shed roof
  8. To be honest, i'd be happy with 1 cm and a few frosts, rarely get much here, and when we have, they have usually not been ramped in advance
  9. Driving back from Manchester on Sunday evening was typical, heavy snow settling as far as Warrington then sleet and finally heavy rain Temps went from -0.5 to 2.0, i just accept now that if i want to see cold and snow i need to move.
  10. Distance between Liverpool -Manchester is 26 miles completely insignificant in weather terms, don't believe these town forecasts, from that data you would assume the front is only about 5 miles wide ? Once the front hits the NW of the region tomorrow, we will know a lot more
  11. Can often be surprised by marginal events, December 16th 2011, a snow event predicted to hit West Mids ( Wolverhampton Dudley) actually hit my area and further south around Beeston quite badly. There was still no indication of this change, until the event actually happened , and i was caught out ( as i was travelling on the A41)No matter what the models forecasts say, slight changes to the front/ block as it moves through, can change precipitation amounts/types in an instant.
  12. I imagine the hills in North Wales will see some snow on Saturday( Moel Famau )
