I’m seeing a lot of FB posts ‘oh it’s ok - we are just Amber not red we are protected’
I've heard the same " all we'll be doing is chasing bin lids "

In the last hour our local village schools have just said they won't be open tomorrow. I think we've secured whatever can be secured , candles ready if needed. Everytime we get something like this the powerline comes down. Last time it actually disconnected from the house side.

been talking to a few friends and family about this storm and to be honest no one is taking it seriously not sure how bad it will get here on the lincolnshire coast but its falling on deaf ears
We live just north west of swindon , so I'd expect it to be quite strong winds. Yet a few locals are like.. yea.. yea. Itll be fun chasing bin lids around Not a care in the world

Winch took a hiding in 87. I remember wide awake in my bed listening to it while every single fence popped down the entire street.

Evening all, I'm hoping a miracle happens and Eunice clears off into France, hate high winds in an average storm, Friday fills me with dread. Expecting lots of trees down around here as there are so many dead and dying Ash trees, victims of sudden ash die back, potential for an awful amount of damage from those. Work is about 7 miles from Bristol channel (as the crow flies), there's little protection as the topography is fairly flat, I'm keeping everything crossed we don't lose this vulnerable, venerable, enormous Black Pine; it stands way above everything else so catches the full force of wind from that direction. It's a few hundred years old and a landmark for miles around, home to countless generations of Ravens for decades and likely to take out a fully mature Lime tree and an ancient Copper Beech too.
It's got quite an alarming lean that's getting more acute as the years pass, but the trunk has so far responded with enough stress growth to counter the lean. Please survive Old Man.
We've had 3 ash trees fall in the village today alone. Dread friday , theres so many more. I'm not even sure westonbirt have finished felling thier ash either.

Seeing your avatar reminds me that yesterday morning I went out and bought a really nice bird feeder, with a lovely copper "roof" and some suet energy balls to put in it. I fixed it up as soon as I got home and am really glad that I did. Poor little birds will be struggling tomorrow...I hope people will feed them and provide water too.
Yes.. they're going to need all of the help they can get. Along with access to water
