  1. For some reason I managed to put this in the Ireland thread yesterday, so better late than never. Cracking day today cloud rolled in at the end so here's yesterdays sunset at Lake of Mentieth (18th Feb 2013).
  2. Whilst I'm always up for more snow I do like a good sunset - Lake of Mentieth earlier.
  3. Just a day of steady drizzle, would have been nice as snow - light powder would have done me. Looking forward to some old mountain inversion weather for a couple of days.
  4. Had rain since about 15:00, anoyingly it seems to be raining a lot harder than it was snowing. Outside what is there is wet heavy and settled in at about 3-4cm.
  5. Upgraded to 50p fatties, fast falling but not snowing hard (low flake density) if that makes sense. Temp has been up and down. Currently got thaw / settling of existing snaw. Tree branches were white, now not.
  6. About 3cm of wetter end fat flake snow. Currently small to medium flakes falling fast. Temps have rised enough to cause anything on car bonnets to slump off / bare areas and tracks not building up any cover.
  7. Just been raining here for most of the day, bit of sleet now and then. Been over to Aberfoyle - mostly sleet / snow - snow lying above about 180-200m. Not sure if I just caught a heavier fall or it is falling heavier over the hills. Snow but not lying on the road over the top into Balfron.
  8. Hangs head in shame - totally out with snow level. Maybe 500-600m on the hills above Aberfoyle. Cover verylocalised, even then not sure if it might even be remainder of weekend snow. Menteith hills are green. Tops of Ben Ledi and Ben Venue have snow but again not total whiteness. Bright and blustery here now, you could see the summit on Ben Lomond briefly.
  9. Last gust brought some sleety gorple - if you can have such a thing. Now brightening up, looks like snow to about 100m - 200m, will have a better idea once I've taken a walk up the back.
  10. Been another wet old day but when you could see Ben Ledi it's looking nice and white up top. Day one of month four, for me, of winter hill conditions tomorrow. Welcome less windy period - time to stop paperwork and have some fun.
  11. That's suitably impresive, that would be more exceptionally brilliant for me than normal. Still time to book one for this winter?
  12. It has been very localised. Perth to Blairgowerie and then upto Glenshee had recieved a good fall of snow. Bridge of Cally upwards had enough for me to be impressed even by North Pennines old school winter standards. Lot of drifting on the roadside but the fields still had good cover as well. Just going local it wasnt anything great but seening what lay beyond Perth, winter and snow as it should be.
  13. Got around 2-3cm from current fall and still going strong, this mornings (pre-rain / snow) put down about 2cm. Still fast falling medium flakes.
  14. And now its the heavy stuff, fast falling large flakes, road going white. Might have been going for a while but not looked out the window since last post.
  15. And now a snow / rain mix. Raw cold. Was wanting steady snow event looks like disapointment.
  16. Fast falling small / medium sized snow here. Road starting to grey up.
  17. Got a slow thaw of snow at the moment. Never seen it snow for so long and deliver so little but a big re-charge at the ski areas which is what it's really all about for me.
  18. Seems to be softening again here, falling but not building. Never seen such yo-yo day but it is good to see snaw fall for well over 12hrs.
  19. Webcam at the top end of Weardale - snow proper in the North Pennines (at last) http://www.durham.gov.uk/pages/WeatherStationDetails.aspx?station=13
  20. Snowing heavy now, all surfaces accumulating including the A-road.
  21. Moderate but wet snow - no accumulations on bare areas. Foot prints and tracks are thawing through. Really strange to see, never been this close to sea level in a big snow so finding it difficult to get my head round constant snow not accumulating and even thawing!
  22. From out the back of the village looking towards Mentieth Hills. Temp seems to have gone up a touch - snaw melting on tree branches / car windscreens. Under trees signs of water droplets falling into the snow. Silva windwatch thinks its -1degC after a 10min dangle on the washing line. Flakes about 2-3mm and swirling.
