Horrifying model runs today for the next couple of weeks. I think we will be at the mercy of the Atlantic it does not look good. 😒😒 Anyway, despite what the models are showing I wish all members and staf at netweather her a very happy Christmas and I hope you all enjoy your selves with family and friends on Sunday. Still all is not lost the Met office going for call mid Jan so let’s wait and see what happens.

If you were wanting to blow a good deal of your hard earned on the central heating, then I suppose they are indeed horrifying. I'm a cold lover, but these are fabulous charts if they come off this year. Just no damaging winds please! Have a good Christmas everyone 🎅👍

  2. Not sure if anyone you have left the now increasingly defunct Twitter for Mastodon, but it offers great potential for like minded folk to gather and enjoy our weather interest,in 'dedicated' servers. I've just found retired Met Forecaster

    @T2mike@mastodonapp.uk

Give him a follow always good to show some love, his posts have cracking detail.

    Happy Christmas, Cheers!

That pink blob up north is right over my house, generally in an easterly flow, we do fantastic, from the west, not so much.

Generally the main models struggle with picking up showers coming in off the North sea, will be looking at the high res with interest as they come in to view.

In 2010 I was stationed in Loftus,East Cleveland. I stood on the cliff at Skinningrove, watched the showers actually form over the water and then dump CMs at a time over us. No models/ snow depth charts, can see that. What we do know is the wind will turn E ENE, and that for us turns on N.Sea convection snow showers. Fabulous stuff!!!!

Back end of next week. Do you think that one is nailed on then? Surely at only a week away. What could possibly go wrong?

Got to feel sorry for the only part of the UK not in the colder uppers at this stage, the Channel Islands

They'll be ok because they are not in the U.K anyway Had a few easterlies when I was living down there though.

Yup and thicknesses next week are even lower and 850s couple of degrees colder than the chart you posted above!!all systems go!!

Absolutely, forgive me for a now post on this forum, but it's snowing heavily with me in Middlesbrough right now, after rain and wind all day yesterday as this low now pulls in from the NE on its back edge, the change to snow is so quick, you can only to think something is afoot this year.

I think the east may have real problems this month in terms of dullness if we continue to see a Scandinavia high, low to the south and no Azores high linkup. I’ve never experienced such dullness in June from memory with this week not looking much better. Essentially we have northern blocking to the Northeast. At least it’s dry on the whole by the looks of precipitation anomalies

Looking at around the 11th for the wind to start changing direction, giving some relief to us in the N.E. (Middlesbrough)

Another dull week to go yet. That'll be 1 sunny day out of 23? By the time it shifts... Remarkably stubborn weather pattern.

Make the most of it as the city isn't exactly known for prolonged warmth or dryness, more the opposite. Come June the Atlantic can crank up delivering a cool damp Summer especially for western areas. May is often the driest and sunniest month for Greater Manchester - similar for other north western areas of the UK. Been loads of May's that have been dry and warm around here only for Summer itself to be cooler and damper.

He sees into the future like he owns it! May be it will be a little different this year... #lowsolaractivity

woke up to another night of pretty much missing everything!!!!! couldn't make it up!

Gutted for you mate, especially with your location!! Mind you we all want a bit of weather extremes that's our passion, but we in Teeside now have a Red Alert  from the Met,and the roads are dreadfull, the hospital will be straining etc...double edged sword is our passion....

A 31 year cycle with gale force Easterly winds which still cant deliver any snow for the Dorset coast. Unbelievable. Amazing charts, but dry and cold here which is bitterly dissapointing. If we cant get snow in a 1 in 30 year Easterly then when can we? #giveup

Patience Jedi, keep your eye on the low pressure system that may push into your area in around about a weeks time. ?

I am from the north east of England and GFS to me is a bit disappointing this morning , i hope this is not the start of a trend to have the high further south , yes its cold but for us in north of uk not fantastic cold  like the early models were suggesting

I'm over near Stokesley and to be fair, the models would have to be showing a great deal further south at this point to put us out of the game. That is a very large cold pool, and we are a very small island in comparison. GFS is always progressive in its solutions right up to T-48hrs on some occasions. We won't miss out, but I would like to see a N.E breeze developing to get those convective showers on the go for us.

You enjoy your Huge amount of snow this winter @More Snow And we shall enjoy our warm spring and hot summers while you are all deluged with rain ' winds and grey sky' Oh and the odd look at the temp being above 17c or kicking it to 19c . when we are bathing down here in 28c /31c ' Not being nasty , just stating a fact that we do better down here for at least 6 months while you Northerners get a Crap Spring and Summer .:D:D:D

As a Southerner living up in the NE, your talking alot of cobblers. Oh and when it comes to Sun, western Scotland has on average the highest amount in the UK. Please respect the forum and do your research before you comment Cheers.

First time in here and I can’t believe this thread is so quiet given that interest lies in tweaking the next few days let alone 7 days plus which seems to be far too far ahead to have anything set in stone!

To be fair, most are standing by and watching how this one plays out, somets up,but what remains to be seen...forecast of PV distruption could stick it's two penneth in an all.
