  1. I can't give you an expert's point of view (as I am not one!), but my met office phone app is showing light snow from friday afternoon through to saturday evening. So could be interesting in our part of the region too!!
  2. Afternoon everyone. Certainly some interesting reading in here today! A beautiful day here in NE Hants. Sunshine and blue skies. Current temp 2C. It's a shame that I am stuck indoors cleaning and sorting out my 10 year old's pit......... er, I mean, bedroom! I am looking forward to seeing how the week turns out. Each time the met office update my forecast, more snowflakes are added for fri/sat. Currently I have light snow forecast from midday friday until 9pm saturday! However, I am just out of the area covered by the yellow warning, so I'm not counting my chickens yet! I feel very lucky to have woken up to snow yesterday, but would love to have snow at the weekend for the children's benefit! Crossing my fingers that you guys further west also get lucky!
  3. I have just ventured out into the garden and it seems more like rain than sleet now If the temperatures do drop later then it's going to be like an ice rink on the roads.
  4. Thought as much Gibby! Still, it's nice to see settled snow even if it's temporary. I can see signs of a thaw, with the snow much more patchy on the path and the grass starting to show through. Incidently, very light snow coming down now, but I expect to see it change soon.
  5. Just had a lovely walk to school and back, crunching through 2-3 cms of snow! Moderate snow was falling as well, but that has now stopped. And (if I've done this right!), this is the view of my back garden https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/16960-snow-140113/ Such a shame that rain is forecast in a couple of hours. Hopefully it won't be heavy enough to wash all the snow away!

    Snow 14th January 2013

  7. Woken up to a covering of snow here! Only about a centimetre or so, but it's still lightly snowing. I hope my children don't get too excited abut a snow day though. They are so used to the school shutting when the white stuff appears, but there is not enough for that!
  8. I'm not far from you and I agree! Reports from the South West of light snow flurries, and also from the East. Nowt for us in the middle!!
  9. Very, very cold rain here all morning. Current temp is 3C, with DP 1. Metoffice has my part of the world down for rain all day, but I would not be surprised to see it turn sleety later in the day Meant to also say that we are forecast light snow to rain on Monday, which seems to go against everything that has been said here!
  10. Very nearly spat my coffee out all over my laptop then!!! Thanks for that laugh!
  11. I am not getting excited about tomorrow really. I reckon I will see some snowflakes mixed in with rain, but don't expect to wake up to any snow covering on Sunday. But, judging from the charts I'm seeing posted here, it's looking like Monday might be quite good for anyone in my region! Fingers crossed you guys further west can join in too!
  12. Yep, Four Marks seems to have it's own mini climate!! I frequently hear reports of snow there, which turns into rain as you head towards Alton! The best snowfall seems to appear after only a few hours warning! So I don't read too much into forecasts that are too far out.
  13. This really is going to be a day by day thing, isn't it? 24 hours ago my met office phone app showed 12 hours of light snow sat pm through to sun am. Now there is rain with one solitary little snowflake around 3am! However, 2 little snowflakes have now appeared for mon evening. So I am looking to next week for a chance of snowfall now
  14. Do you mean 'easterly bias' as in east of the UK? Or east of this region? (I am south central so that makes a difference for me!)
  15. I flit between this thread and the SE one too. Being smack bang in the middle I can read both threads and decide which one I like the best!
  16. Sleet with heavy snowflakes here too. And I went on the school run with no hat or umbrella, therefore I am very cold and very wet now I wasn't expecting that!
  17. Now it's getting heavier! The grass is definitely looking white so maybe a couple more cms if it continues for a while.
  18. Still light snow for me. A dusting on the grass and car roofs, but not settling at all on roads or pavements. I can't see it getting much heavier tbh. The radar is showing it right overhead but the snowfall hasn't got any heavier since it started. I won't complain though because there was a decent amount for me last weekend!
  19. Evening everyone. Currently temp 0c, dewpoint -3c and humidity 80%. No sign of any snow here yet, despite staring intensely at a lamp post for 5 mins!
  20. A few flakes in the air this morning here too! (I did have to blink a few times to make sure I wasn't imagining it, but they were definitely there!)
  21. Has some light snow here this morning as well. Very fine snow grains though.
  22. Yep, my kids have made a reasonable size snowman and a huge snowball (I'm right next to Alton btw) What about Butser Hill? There has to be good snow up there!
