    Moderate snow, heavy at times, has covered everything here in Hemel Hempstead (149m) during the past 90minutes. About 2 or 3 cm on the grass and the wind has picked up, blowing the now much finer snowflakes horizontally at times. Everything below the snow is very wet following 13mm of rainfall over the past 24hours, so it shows how intense the snow has been in order to establish a cover. Current temperature is 0 C so it could be very awkward for travel in the morning if it all freezes and more snow accumulates. Gritter has just gone by! Out of interest it was snowing heavily on top of the Chilterns near Ashridge, by 3.30pm and was starting to settle Potentially there could be quite a cover by now.

    Approaching 14 hours of continuous light snow here in Hemel Hempstead. Probably only about 6cm of fresh snow which, as it has compacted under its own weight during the day on top of the existing snow layer, has left us with about 10cm cover on the grass. Max temp today was -1.5 C. Surprised to see it still snowing. The radar suggests it should soon end but then again it looked that way a couple of hours ago.

    Snow falling in Hemel Hempstead since about 7.0am. Mostly light but has now produced about 3.0cm of fresh cover. Current temperature around -1.5 C. Total cover on the grass about 9.0 cm.

    Only very light snow in Hemel Hempstead (149m) now. Light to moderate snow since 8.30am has left about 6cm of fresh snow on top of about 2cm left from Monday. Some light drifting where I live, suggests that some country roads up in the Chilterns could have drifts across them. Current temperature around -3.5 C.

    Still snowing in Hemel Hempstead. Has been moderate to heavy for the past hour. 4 to 5 cm on the grass and even the road outside which was gritted 90 minutes ago is part covered. Local secondary school sent home at lunchtime. Temperature has remained at minus 0.5 C.

    Continuous light to moderate snow in Hemel Hempstead (149m)since 11.00am. Settling on top of the overnight 1.0cm. Becoming heavier in last few minutes and settling on the wet road. Hemelgeographer

    Snow still falling in Hemel but only 2 to 3 cms on top of old snow...but looks pretty good.

    Hemel snow only light at the moment but -1.5C here at 490feet and every flake settling.
