Well I'm too old and ratty to care if I'm doomed really - but has the current stopped or changed or moved or anything at all?

Hi, I'm new so excuse me if this is posted in the wrong place. I want to ask what is happening with the Gulf Stream? Some forums are saying it has stopped - surely that isnt possible for a major ocean current to just "stop" ? I got told at school ( a long time ago !) that if the GS ever moved or stopped then Scotland would turn into Siberia. I was about 10 and remembered it ever since because it sounded so terrible But has it actually happened?

Hi, I'm new. I'm at 1000ft in the border hills and we get a lot of wind. We've had wind, rain and lightning the last few days and are getting tidied up for Katia now. I will be glad of this forum when the winter comes for the snow forecast - we get a lot of snow here and once it lies it stays ! Last year we were at four and a half feet of the stuff and ran out of places to put it Just wondering when this storm is to hit and how long it's expected to last? TY.
