Light snow in Coventry has arrived a few minutes ago. Getting a little heavier now and it's already starting to settle

Therefore it really should be here in Coventry any minute now ......

Still nothing here in Coventry, though the fact that people here are reporting snow near Birmingham means that it should arrive here very soon.

It has got a little darker here in Coventry and the breeze has picked up in the last hour or 2. However, no snow falling yet.

It's cloudy here in Coventry at the moment. It does seem that there has been a slight upgrade for the region in the forecasts. Not long until we find out how correct the forecasts have been.

Hi ST. The NMM shows moderate/heavy precipitation over your area for several hours on Saturday from 5pm though to around midnight. You would be looking at around 12cm IF it was snow all the way. However the model indicates it could fall as sleet. :wacko:
Coventry and Warwickshire is really borderline then...

Coventry in the dark orange warning on the met office site?? Does this mean cov should get a good dumping??
I think it's just about in the orange zone.... It may be that the weather towards the East of Coventry may turn out to be very different to those that live further West (difference between staying as snow and snow turning to rain), I seem to remember something similar happening last winter. The model watching and seeing the forecasts with the slight changes being made as we get nearer the time is certainly interesting

Yes, I thought so since something like that was not forecast at all (hence why I was surprised and posted it originally). I'm sure a lot of people will not want that to happen to the radars on Saturday/Sunday, therefore hopefully the radars will work properly then.

It looks good for Coventry as I said on the previous thread but we'll just have to see as we go towards the more reliable timeframe. It may not be clear cut until we are very very near T0.

It is currently shown on a weather radar I'm looking at as snowing around the East Midlands area, it seems to have reached Northampton. Towards Bedford further away, it's showing the snow as being very heavy. Interesting... Could it surprisingly go further West ? One to keep an eye on I think for this evening...

i think the current trend East midlands will do very well i think areas such as coventry bham west will be abit more marginal! but im praying for a decent dumping in cov!
For Coventry, it appears to be very marginal. But if the front stalls over the Midlands, we could be in for a dumping of snow.
20 miles here and there can make the difference. It appears that the model is shifting everything westwards for Saturday so it's a case of looking at the models to see what they're saying as we get into a more reliable timefreame.

What a backtrack from just a few hours ago.
The Meto were predicting temperatures of 9 degrees in the daytime and 7 degrees minimum on Friday night with heavy rain for Coventry. Now, the forecast has totally changed to a maximum and minimum temperature of 0 degrees with light snow in the daytime and some drizzle (freezing drizzle) at night.
That is a big big turnaround and it just shows that they are struggling because all the models etc.. seem to be all over the place aswell.
Oh, and light snow predicted from 6pm tonight....

It's cloudy at the moment here in Coventry though there has been a little bit of sunshine too this morning. Temperatures are around 3 degrees at the moment.
However, the models are struggling but watching them and their changes is very interesting.
For example, in Coventry, the UKMO have forecasted that Thursday night will see a minimum of 1 degrees and there will be some light snow. Then on Friday, there is going to be heavy rain with a max temperature of 9 degrees and minimum of 7 degrees. That's very mild indeed, I wasn't expecting that to be happening. But it seems from the latest forecasts now that mild air is coming to come and try and come in from the south on Friday morning. How far north it gets is open to debate in my opinion.
Whatever happens, it's been a very interesting winter so far and there is still some way to go until the end of winter. It seems from what predictions are that it's going to continue to be a cold winter (whether it's as cold as in December is open to debate) with perhaps some brief mild interludes.

Snowing moderately in Coventry for about an hour and a half, only about half a cm on the ground though main roads are clear. Gradually getting heavier. Some even heavier stuff may be on its way from what can be seen on the radar.
