    With all these tropical depressions hitting the US, what are the chances they’ll eventually be deflected our way and bring copious amounts of rain with it?

    there not hitting the us..there fizzling out in the atlantic due to the african dry air and the troughiness..the remnants get reinvigorated and cause our crap.

    There are quite a few interesting and beautiful types of cloud that are possible, unfortunately the UK tends to get the utterly boring ‘grey featureless void’ clouds that suck any joy from ones being, especially as they are present for a large portion of the year

    unfortunately the uk climate messes everything up..night sky viewing..landscapes..pigs flying..lol..and everything else you need clear enough sky for.

    Same here . Just continues the depressing theme of this disgraceful summer. Cloud all day and now it's raining. And cool. And there was me this morning thinking about 23c, sunny, warm and a beer garden. What a load of crap.

    hey no drinking in the week..leave it till the weekend washout..those are the rules now..lol

    It's not just rainfall that is causing reservoir levels to be lower these days, even in wetter summers.

    People overlook the fact that the population has grown so much from say the 1970s. There is a much higher demand for water and a lot more strain on the water supply.

    Governments have not invested nearly enough in infrastructure to cater for the extra people and also greater water usage per capita.

    In the mid 70s the population was 56 million and it's now nearly 68 million. Yet there has been almost no investment in new reservoirs etc.

    The last 20 years have seen crazy population growth for such a small, already overcrowded island.

    its called government lies and greed!

    Lovely skies just ahead of sunset tonight. Humidity lower compared to yesterday perfect.

    Crops are doing lovely, corn and wheat on my walk looked almost ready to be harvested, but not a farmer so not exactly sure.

    Could contain:

    Could contain:

    Cornfields in Coventry?..you can say bye bye to that soon when the greedy developers move in!!

    The area i stay at the weekend is being over run with the greedy barstewards..they'll be no countryside left on this island soon..they just dont give a damn!!

    Please make this 'summer' go away. I am sick of :

    * The southerly tracked jet stream

    * Grey skies

    * Rain

    * Cool

    * Wind

    * Spiders in my house 2 months early

    * Puddles

    * Weeds persistently growing in my patio

    * Having to wear a coat

    * Putting the supplementary heater on whilst having a cup of tea

    * Low pressure at the weekend

    * Opening the curtains on a Saturday morning to glowering skies pouring rain and wind

    * Places like Vancouver Seattle Anchorage Irkutsk Ulaanbataar having a summer whilst we have an enormous autumn

    * 16c in July

    * 16c in August

    PLEASE MAKE IT END.

    You've just forgot one thing...the crap ocean that produces it all!!..to cold to bathe in..hurricanes have a job and half to get going because of sh**e conditions and it takes to bloody long to fly over it holidaying in the states..lol

    If the synoptics of the past few weeks held sway through the winter, expect quite a wintry one, with rain, sleet and snow all thrown in the mix and heavy amounts given the southerly tracking jet. North- South temp gradients, cold in the north for much of the time.

    you just know whats going to happen for the start of winter..bloody jet moves north, bartlett high and another winter on the dung heap!

    never fails.

    I'd be a very happy person if we could develop a mild-to-warm and dry winter climate. Some kind of climatic event that permanently blocks any wind influence that isn't a warm southerly. Colder weather just makes me physically and mentally ill so winter is a constant fight to wake up.

    i used to like winter when i was younger..i can't stand it now i'm older..dont mind the heat at all though.
