  1. A hot and sunny morning and early afternoon with a new September record maximum of 25.9c recorded. High and medium level cloud increased from the south and south west from 1330 g.m.t and the wind veered W and increased to f4-5 for an hour or so. The wind then decreased and there were further sunny intervals before a further increase in cloud late this afternoon and early this evening. It turned almost as dark as night by 1730 g.m.t and the wind increased to f6 W but just a few spots of rain fell and there was 1 flash of lightning and a muffled rumble of thunder before it all cleared away to the north. At 1800 g.m.t Temp; 17.9c Max today; 25.9c Min last night; 15.7c Grass min; 10.5c Rainfall from 0800-1800 g.m.t; Trace Sunshine today; 6.52 hrs Mean wind speed; 14 mph W Highest gust today; 42 mph W at 1733 g.m.t 7 oktas As, Ac and Cu Vis: 15 km.
  2. It turned almost as dark as night here around 1730 g.m.t, the wind increased to f 6-7 with gusts of 39-42 mph but all that followed was a few spots of rain, 1 flash of lightning and a rather muffled rumble of thunder. Just a few miles to the west there was a spell of torrential rain. Still, we did manage the highest September maximum on record ( since 1963 ) this afternoon with 25.9c recorded.
  3. Yes, it's correct MIA. The highest temperature here on Sept' 13th is 20.5c in 1991, at least it was until today. The Davis on the roof mast is currently reading 25.2c so the date record has well and truly gone. The overall September max' must now be in serious danger too as there's rarely more than 0.4c difference between the Davis and the screen temp', the Davis almost always being a little higher.
  4. 19.2c at 0800 g.m.t is just 1.3c short of the date record ( since 1977) here so almost a certainty that will fall. I'm wondering how close the max' will get to the overall September record of 25.3c in 2006.
  5. A dry and warm night with clear periods. Quite a lot of high cloud and contrails early this morning but most of this has cleared and now it's sunny and very warm. 11. It looks as if Tuesday could easily break the temperature date record here which currently stands at 20.5c in 1991, closely followed by 20.3c in 2006. The date record for the 14th could also be under threat, currently 21.9c in 2003.

  13. The cold front wasn't as active here as the Met Office were suggesting; just 4.0 mm of rain from a fragmented and quite narrow band of rain.. At the moment we're right on the western edge of the rain area which seems to have increased in extent and intensity the moment it got to the east of Derbyshire.
