Please head Eastwards tonight. That would be a grand end to my weeks holiday from work! I'm not gonna get my hopes up but there is a slight possibility I suppose

Got caught in two short downpours of hail today within an hour of each other in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Some lovely convection today.

Only Go Walkabout seem to insure for stormchasing, but you will have to call up to get it endorsed for this. Expect to pay £90 + minimum for a single trip , £150 for an annual policy. May be more now in light of the severe season this year
Thanks, will give them a call at some point.

OK so for that sort of money you would be currently looking at things like
http://www.warehouse...gb%26lt%3b400.0
Only reason I've posted that link is because I've used these guys lots of time and they are always good, but it presents what's around at that new price, remember prices vary according to vendor and supplier.
If your flying out of Heathrow then possibly consider buying at duty free but check first on what's around at that time.
Thanks for the info. Will check that out. Want to get a camera in the next couple of months so I can get used to using it properly.

You'll soon be famous up on Lewis as the man who chases storms.
What sort of money are you talking about?
Around 300-400 quid.

Hi guys,
New to the forum and have just booked my place on storm chase 2012. Thought i'd share a few pics with you. 2 seperate storms, 1 of which I chased towards Gt Yarmouth from Diss. Hope you enjoy them.
These first pics were of a 'cell' type structure that came over my house 10/06/2009. Some rotation in this with funnels reported at the Mildenhall air base (no planes allowed in or out). Me and my brother watched this in our garden for a good hour. It fizzled out quite quickly. No thunder or lightning strikes seen. No precipitation either.
This next picture was one I took on the way back from a fishing trip in Hinderclay near Diss. I could hear thunder in the distance when packing up and saw this structure on the way home. Chased it for a good hour before deciding to head home. Thunder and multiple lightning strikes

Welcome aboard Lewis - you'll have a cracking time!
Thanks Paul, hate flying but just decided that I gotta get on with it and do something I have wanted to do for a long time.
Any good advice for travel insurance companies? Ian at Netweather said to book my flight around Christmas sale period.

Just paid my deposit for tour 4 today. Can't wait! Will be my first time storm chasing!
