you mention clarity of the air - apparently volcanic ash can also affect the look of the eclipse says the BBC - especially the recent volcanic ash from the Chile eruption http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/23degrees/2011/06/first_total_lunar_eclipse_of_2.html but as always the weather will be v.important as to whether you see it or not
