I notice snow showers are concentrated in northern areas today. Why is this? Wind direction? Is the wind northerly today? In a northerly, the air is clearer and so the mountains eat all the snow and anywhere south of the mountains stays dry.
Beautiful, clear and crisp day today. The snow cover froze overnight and is very crunchy underfoot. I wonder if that front incoming on Tuesday will determine rain or snow here?

No snow fall here and I think the front has now cleared through Scotland.

I am shocked to read posts about loss of snow cover. It has not melted where I live which is shocking. I was expecting me to put up that it had melted but it hasn't.

No further snow fall since early afternoon and I am not expecting any snow from the brand of snow coming south tonight. I expect it to fizzle out before it reaches here or miss here completely. The snow did not melt at all today although the roads are certainly slushy. I expect it to freeze over tonight.

Raining very very slightly earlier but not enough to impact on snowcover. It is not turning back to snow as another shower has just arrived from the west.

What's a slider low? No further snowfall since 10 o'clock this morning. Overcast now with some little holes in the cloud but the forecast is for it to remain dry now until the weather front pushes in on Tuesday. It is such as shame to see this cold weather end so quickly.

Snow did not fall overnight but it is snowing now but nothing like the snow that fell last night and there has not been even a slight melt. Here is to more snow today.

Will report on conditions in the morning. No further snowfall since the more prolonger fall earlier on. Hoping for some more decent snowfall over the coming days.

Still nothing in Ayr? Apparently there was snow near Stranraer.
Stopped snowing 20 minutes ago. That was the longest and most potent snowfall here ever! And it has not melted at all. Loving this weather.

Been absolutely chucking it down here for well over 2 hours now here In Kilmaurs, just a mile or two from Killie (Kilmarnock). I have lived here since September 2011, and in all that time, never have I seen it snow like this before! Absolutely sensational! Anybody know how much longer the snow is expected to fall? What is the forecast showing for snow over the weekend in Ayrshire? I will try to put up some pictures, if I can.
And earlier today too some pictures but less snow then than now.

Heavy snow all afternoon in killie. Next to nothing in Irvine
Irvine is not all that far from Killie. But it is nearer the coast certainly. It rained a little earlier but quickly turned back to snow. Not snowing just now. I have no idea if any more snow is forecast for the weekend? Any shower activity or troughs expected?

Very cloudy here but nothing falling. I hope that is not the last of the snow.

Its a weird place coastal ayrshire...when it rains it bloody rains !! When snow is forecast it seems to fall west north east n south of coastal ayrshire.
What's the snow like in Irvine? It is still lying here. I am surprised it has not yet melted as that has been the theme of the day so far but only ever so slightly melting. It is only what has fallen that has melted just a little. I hope there is frost tonight to freeze it.

I feel really bad for you aggy. Where I live is really bad for snow but even I am getting it. It is really very very white here. I have lived here for 3 and a half years and never have I seen it so white. It was absolutely chucking it down earlier. I hope you see some snow soon.
