Some seriously strong gusts now coming through in SE Essex. Possibly stronger than the other day.
Yep, I'm feeling it here in Stanford-leHope! We just lost half a fence panel.
-
Starting to get very gusty in essex, we are at the bottom of a cul-de-sac and now have a very large pile of bin bags blown down from the other houses on the road as its the reycling collection tomorrow, looks like they will only need to stop at ours! I lost a large chunk of my shed roof on Tuesday...if this keeps up I may well be fishing it out of the field next to us come the morning again
Yep, I'm still at my Folks' in south essex, and it certainly sounds like the sustained wind is stronger than yesterday, not sure about the gusts. Dad and I went to retrieve the bins earlier on (we are recycling collection here tomorrow to) and I'm glad we did, because there are recycling boxes cartwheeling down our Cul-De Sac!

Think the squall just passing over here now, went dark, loads of hail, and now the wind is gusting hard enough to move the glass panels in the conservatory. Hail has passed on and now back to sheets of rain.
Just called my old man at work in Southend and he said it hasn't started to even rain there yet....
-
Well it's beginning to howl here on the Estuary, the room I'm in is west facing and the rain plus gusts have kept me awake for about 30 minutes. Gusts are definitely becoming stronger, I can hear the window frames having a bit of a creak!
-
Well it missed us here completely boo.

Ah the Daily Mail....
AND even better, the Express....
http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/290470/It-s-a-white-Christmas-
What made me giggle was even the. BBC news reader couldn't contain his mirth when he read out their headlines today. 'ooh, well they seem confident!' - Sarcasm much?!
I think their Headline on the early edition is 'White Christmas' followed by talk of 'killer ice' and other strongly worded, semi unfounded exclamations.
Genius.

Cold sleety rain here for about two hours or so, I just went outside and the clouds are now blowing in a completely different direction to earlier. Still breezy but nothing like earlier this week.
-
Met O warnings have been updated folks
Snow included! but I don't think for our neck of the woods. Wind is still a feature.

Wrap up warm! I am just waiting see what the BBC will say during the news.

Well, although it's still bright outside, and the wind is less gusty carnage and more breezy, it's FREEZING outside. That wind has a proper bite to it. Temp at 6.5c, but the wind is taking it down a few pegs I would think!!! Doesn't look like we'll get too much in the way of showers this way, not until later this evening maybe.
Waiting with baited breath to see what pans out after the will it/won't it 'situation of Thursday evening, which has totally distracted me from all the cold and snow potential for next week. Talk about blindsided!

Hi folks, everyone still in one piece? I retired about onc- one thirty and slept through everything else...
Have a tree down in the road adjacent to me, some garden furniture thrown about downstairs, but at the moment damage seems minimal.
Let's see what today brings!
-
Either I'm getting used to the noise, or I'm in a bitnf a weird lull at the moment. Rain has become lighter, wind is not as fierce.
I'm saying this now, my luck the window boxes will be off Down the road any moment..
-
Sitting at 8.6c here.
-
power just went off briefly here
Same, I've had the lights flickering on and off since about 9.30. Few car alarms going off as well. The garden flat downstairs has potted plant casualties.
Torch at the ready...

Anyone see the guy reporting from Mudeford on BBC news at 10 a second ago? Poor fella looked like he was getting lashed. Plus in the background were a load of kids on bikes and people in their cars looking out to sea. Don't take risks folks!(made me chuckle a bit though)

Police helicopter has just flown over here, god I don't envy those guys in this!!
Wind is significantly howling (and highlighting all the massive cracks in my kitchen wall)
Radar is showing a pretty big pink blob heading in this direction. The rain has been consistent so far, but not torrential.
-
Yes, the wind has become noticeable here as well. It rained for about half an hour and has stopped again. Few gusts earlier, but now the wind is err, windier, and more sustained. A good measure will be when my boiler pilot light blows out, which it tends to do during the windiest weather.
-
Has been quiet here until about 10 minutes ago when there was one loud howling gust,
Still no rain, although looking at the radar it'll be any minute.
-
The Highways agency have also put a warning out to drivers for the wind.
http://www.highways.gov.uk/news/breakingnews.aspx
It wouldn't surprise me if the Dartford bridge is closed, or at least restricted at some point this evening.
The combo of Rain and gusty winds will probably incur some fairly nasty driving conditions, especially on the Motorways, M20 springs to mind.
Still Blue sky and sunshine here... for now.

Met office warnings have changed again folks: Looks like rain is the bigger factor now...

Better safe than sorry i guess. I'm not getting knickers in a twist over the latest warnings, the ones for Tuesday have changed three or four times in as many days. very much watching the developments.
-
Not covering their backs there
Ooh I love a bit of ambiguity!
-
Just had the met office warning email. I don't think I've ever seen the whole uk covered before!
