Very local, nothing wrong with that part of the world, much quieter than Hong Kong anyway!!
Nanmadol was an interesting one, it didnt seem to move from the seas east of the phillipines for ages, and was quite hoping to see some decent Fujihwara (sp?) effect happening between it and Talas. And of course if that doesnt happen then see it heading more west towards HK. SST's are quite high here at the moment and i dont think that IF a storm heads this way we would see that much in terms of weakening, other factors dependant of course.
Talas again, had so much promise to be a very large storm, but i presume its size prevented rapid intensification. Conditions just dont look favourable for intensification of that storm.
Saying about size, wasnt Typhoon Tip a huge storm, and extremely intense?

Hello somerset....
Just thought id drop in here.....is there any predictyions for what the remaining typhoon season has in store for us?
I see your muchelney, im ilchester, near yeovil, although lucky enough to move out to Hong Kong a year ago. Been watching these threads with great interest as hope to experience some form of Typhoon while im here....this year appears to be relatively quiet here with no T8 storm signals that can give us days off work.
Apparently at least one happens a year here, but none for 2 years now. Need a good typhoon i reckon to clear the air out here!!

Hey me again!
What are the chances of this one heading towards Hong Kong? Maybe too early to say, but a favourable curve to the southwest is being predicted by both JTWC and HKO.
Obviously only 5 days are up at the moment with a large cone of uncertainty, but after the quiet year this year im willing to hedge my bets on any chances!!
