  1. Salisbury Plain has generated a beauty tonight! If you zoom to any BA or SN postcode on the NW radar and

play it from 21.00 then the development is brilliant.

Can see sheet lightning from Warminster towards the NE with quiet thunder and more small cells seem to be

building to the Southern tip of the larger cell, wonder if this could become an MCS?

Weird thing is that if I stick my head out the window, I can see broken cloud with stars peeping through the gaps, but feel light rain in the wind...

  2. i can also say that even the most hardened skeptic will come to the same conclusion after taking a serious look at the subject.

Not entirely true -- I went from "somewhat believing" to "hardened skeptic" *because* I took a serious look at the subject :)

  3. Thanks to all who replied re: scud/funnel. You'd think I'd been reading NW long enough to differentiate between funnel and tornado, but I got so obsessed worrying about typing "mini-tornado" and incurring the wrath of... nearly everyone... I forgot what I was at :D

Can take no credit for the pix - they were taken by my son. Don't worry, I clipped him around the earhole and severely reprimanded him for *not* taking a video so we could confirm rotation :D

  4. M4 was getting a light covering at about 10.45, particularly in outside lane. The A46 down into Bath was a snow-fest, only to be taken with much caution. The A36 was less of a problem, but because of what I'd witnessed on the A46 I was taking it slowly (hence I was overtaken by somebody!) in case I rounded a corner and found the sort of conditions I'd just traversed. Nothing impassable tho, just great care needed in some places, A46 especially. Kind of slushy though, so I expect the morning rush hour will clear it all...

  5. Just for information - i've just driven back down to Wiltshire from Telford on the M5/M4 and nothing that even resembled a snowflake the whole journey. Lowest temps on the car temp guage was 3C and that was on the M4 between Bristol and Bath where the weather at least trying to turn wintry with some vague sleet, but mostly rain the whole journey. Temps north of Bristol didn't get below 4-5C the entire journey.

Ha, just to think I didn't go up that way today, just in case. Mind you, I could go tomorrow... But the weather warning is still out... So who knows?

  6. So, Tuesday/Wednesday it not a good day for making a journey from Wiltshire to Telford? Rain in Westbury, and then as soon as I cross the M4 and head towards Stroud, snow. Then, as I follow the M5 up towards Worcester, cars sliding everywhere. And then as I head out onto the hills outside Kidderminster towards Bridgnorth, I'll be trapped in snowdrifts.

    Best not go then

    Cheers
