Hopefully not at 4 in the morning again though - I could do with some sleep. Late evening would be okay.

Hopefully it will pep up this evening and tonight, been fairly disappointing so far. The real stuff as all gone east just south of Sheffield!

Ok,here we go,a storm at last,just got back from leeds/bradford airport and i was so ancious to get back,it was unbelievable

Where in Barnsley? Nothing in Darton at the moment. Did hear a very distant rumble about 10 minutes ago!

Very disappointing so far in Barnsley. Couple of rumbles around 6am this morning and some heavy rain - But that's it so far. Currently under an amber warning from the MO from 16.45 today so here's hoping!

Nothing at all north side of Barnsley at the moment. Tomorrow looking a lot more promising according to the met.

No way is there 7 inches I'm Barnsley as others have alluded to. apart from possibly where its drifted.

Once again Barnsley appears to be in the "heavy, but with light flakes" camp again. All too common this winter.

Bloody hell mate, thats one hell of a night shift, especially for a weekend.
I've been into work this morning from 9am to 10.30am to prep some material ready for the morning, and i thought that was bad enough.
Looks like the Penistone snow magnet is in full effect as it sounds like its raining all around us.
Indeed. Snow in Penistone. Sleet in Hoylandswaine and rain in Cawthorne.

Yeah I had a drive up towards Penistone and the snow line appears to be around 150m ish. Very sleety now in Darton.

Just been out for a quick walk in the heaviest snow for a long time! Took this pics too. Pretty much all the snow had gone from the roads until the last hour or so...

Holy moly, I take that back. It's snowing heavily in Dodworth, north Barnsley for past 10 mins, some snow flakes size of 2 pound coins, you can "hear it snowing". Our estate is on a hill and cars can't get up it! Blimey!
Finally it's turned to snow! Makes a change from that horrible sleety/hail guff!

Never mind the M62 look at the M1 around Junction 37! I knew that would be bad because the snow is pretty amazing here at the moment!
Temperature now dropped further to -0.1c and there is easily a couple of fresh centimetres on the ground.
And yet it's raining/hail at junction 38!

Slightly bigger flakes coming down now. Just been outside and the wind is really getting up! Some serious drifts in the pennines I would imagine!

Still snow falling here and no sign of it going anywhere for a few hours! at moment we are measuring 4.7 inches! looks fantastic
hoping more to come late into the nightMetoffice now showing Barnsley for heavy snow for 6am right through until 10am things keep getting better!
4 inches!? Not even close to that in Darton! 4cm max I reckon.

Never been "moderate to heavy" in Darton at all! I would describe it was small flakes coming down in moderate intensity on the back of a breeze! Quite frustrating actually.

Weather forecast between 1.30-2pm today apparently said snow right throughout the night and s yorks could get it bad? did anyone see that forecast?

Has the amber warning been extended eastwards slightly from earlier? Don't remember it being that close to Sheffield.

the charts won't change for the better now. Less chance of anything. Hope it downgrades for west Pennines n midlands too if we're to have nothing.
Post reported for being a complete tool.
Still time for a shift in favour for our region. Even if this event doesn't deliver significantly there are going to be plenty of other opportunities with the current pattern.
