  1. Hi Somerset, lets hope so. April was very quiet month. Kolds post is interesting. (Copied below) Well its only May but we already have got a slightly intresting set-up developing. The models have come into agreement for low pressure system to develop in the wes tof the Atlantic, some models taking it down to about 998mbs as well. Now at this time of year it usally is the case that anything such development will be cold cored...however the intrest arrises with the fact the the tropical models are suggesting it MAY start to become warm cored in about 72hrs as it deepens further which is a very intresting event because it could mean a hybrid, maybe a subtropical system could form. If we were to get something subtropical along with very dry ground, then flash flooding could be a problem - especially where's there's prolonged and heavy precipitation. Interesting times. Mammatus
  2. osmposm, this is exactly my point. where do you get a record of "365-odd years" from - I assume you're referring to the monthly mean CET series, which is the world's longest continues one, and begins in 1659: I make that 348 years. The fact your being fastidious and pernickerty about 17 years says it all really. The Earth has been here millions of years, you or I haven't, or our weather records/observations haven't so stop being so sanctimonious and self-satisfied. Look at the bigger picture - not 348 years. Climate goes in cycles. Your post explains very little to support your arguement which I find unproductive and uneffectual to this thread. Mammatus
  3. The problem isn't GW, it's peoples unequivocal melodramatic theatrical demeanour on the subject. Mammatus
  4. Hi SF, Good post, 'Scientific' Data does show our globe to be warming, BUT, only in recent times. Earth is far older than the human race and will Im sure adjust in given time like in past 100's - 1000's of years. The climate does go in cycles. "but I wish one or two of you (we've been here before) types would actually look at some of the data and construct an argument as to how and why we are where we are. I suspect I'll be waiting for a while". Yes SF I reckon you will, because we have very little data to backtrack on for 'how and why we are where we are' and 'Proof ' - 365 years data is minuscule to the length of time Earth has been here. I understand what your saying though. Mammatus
  5. Hi noggin and John, I completely agree with this! I wont add anymore, this GW theory is absolute rubbish. Earth has been here millions of years, our records only go back 365 odd years, so how can we describe todays temperatures 'compared to the long term average'? when they only go back a few hundred years? Beyond me. A cooling phase is just around the corner as noggin stated above. "The media have really over hyped Global Warming and I am fed up listning to their outpourings. It just helps sell newspapers and advertising. Anyway pleas God when the cool spell commences next week we can get some relief from the media". Agreed John. Mammatus
  6. Very true, the med has been very disappointing for weeks with an obundance of cloud, showers and fresh/strong winds. Temperatures as a result are pegged back to average or just below. Mammatus B)
  7. Today has been excuisite, with wall to wall sunshine and crystal clear skies. Temperatures maxed out at 18C. It's now clear with a light easterly breeze and temp of 8.7C. Mammatus B)
  8. Very good post John. Enjoyable and informative read. Mammatus
  9. 12z has been dreadful recently I dont even bother looking at that run Mammatus
  10. I agree with this and many other members posts today. The temperature at nearly midnight on an April night in haverhill is reading 15.1C; it's not as if this warm spell is just a blip and cooler air is on its way, this weekend is going to be even warmer. It would be pointless and unnecessary of me to say its going to cool down soon, when we all know it probably isn't! Let alone return to near normal variants. 2007 has been quite a year so far with a VERY stormy start (Near Hurricane force winds at the start of January), then tornado's, hail storms, flooding, now drought conditions with exceptionally high mean temperatures. What next? Mammatus
  11. Here's my photo's of local countryside and recent sunsets. Mammatus
  12. Oh Dear  Where do they get there incorrect, faulty, unsound, wide of the mark crap from, Everton Fox?? Mammatus
  13. Good Luck Gorky on your first real chase!! Make sure you bag some great footage whether it's pics or video. You'll have a great time. I'm very envious - in a nice way. Hi Steve, luck plays a big part by the sounds of it. Your mates must feel gutted, I know I would be. Good luck team, I will be following your every move on here, so keep us updated with pics and descriptions of the storms and your experiences. Hopefully I will be able to join you all next year.......... Mammatus

  17. Current Weather Haverhill @ 11:30 Weather = Sunny and dry. Wind speed and direction = 8mph from East Temperature = 14.8C Temperature's rising rapidly now, especially over the last hour after a somewhat cool start. Mammatus
  18. However frustrating it has been for some members regarding the lack of and severity of cold spells, what has been eye-catching is the variation and diversity of our weather. The last 12 weeks has pummeled the Uk with virtually every weather type, ranging from raging wind storms, flash floods, hailstorms, thunderstorms, snowstorms, etc..... Although some areas haven't seen any snowfall this past Winter, Haverhill has for which I'm fortunate and ecstatic about 'Mammatus thoroughly enjoyed the last 3 months of Winter 2006/7' NOT the start Mammatus
  19. This should be in the reports section, but I'd like to share with you all - it's snowing heavier here now after persistant snow flurries since 6pm. Try and get some pics....... Mammatus
  20. I've got about 2 inches at the moment Arrows. What's of more interest, NW radar 8:30 - 09:00, looks like a line of heavier snow developing ready to sweep NNE across East Anglia/East Midlands.... Interesting times- mam
  21. Doesn't Norwich get snow showers when N - NE winds are blowing, whilst the rest of East Anglians have to watch the radar hoping for a rogue snow shower to creep 30/40 miles inland, which seldom happens and everywhere stays clear and dry apart from Norwich. Stop moaning, Norwich gets it's fair share.
  22. Hi Paul, Have this Error message appear when trying to upload images. "Error Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to check the settings and permissions" Would this be my personal settings that need adjusting or is it a prob with NW. Sorry to bother you mate at what must be a very busy time!!! Mammatus
