  1. Up to 77mph in Buxton now, to the untrained eye it might be hard to make out the Cold Front on RADAR but it's now within a line from Preston to the spit of Hull. Everything else you see beneath it return-wise are lee-waves.

What does that mean within a line from preston? Im in preston....im new to this so dont know the termonology.

  2. Howling gale here. Winds increasing all the time. Gusts of 60mph. Nearly knocked me off my feet whilst out with the dog. Pressure falling very rapidly.

Hi again, im from your neck of the woods arent i. So its about 60mph in preston, seems stronger than that to me, but it is sustained isnt it. I wouldnt dare go out in that, scary!

  3. I did post last night how nasty it was here in leyland, lancashire in north west, but i have to say tonight that wind is howling and its sustained winds too, alot alot stronger than last night, last night was very nasty gusts but this is sustained and i live in front of a small woodlands that surrounds a big park and i can see the massive trees bending, quite frightening here at the mo and its getting worse. I cant tell you the wind speeds as ive no way of measuring it.

  4. Well the wind is really picking up again here, it had died down from this morning. I cant tell you what the wind speed is cause ive no way of measuring it, i just know theres some right nasty gusts now, i think its stronger than this morning. Im in leyland in the northwest, so whats the expected forecast for here, does anyone know?

  6. So much for that met office warning for snow above 200m today

    They really are pretty useless.

I know was supposed to be waking up to a covering of snow, even on low ground where i am, but its cold, temp dropping to 6 c at the mo, had a few gusts earlier but wind has died down now and got clearish, crisp skies at the mo. I notice the snow forecast from the met has gone and changed to wind and rain here in the northwest.

  7. Despite horrible GFS runs over the last few days, they are now showing a return to the Polar Westerly incursions which can only bode well for our region, although GP suggests they may be running out of steam very soon.

Not a shed of hope of an Easterly, not even on the CFS until February. Sorry Easterners.

Does that mean snow in the north west and not in the east? Sorry lol dont understand the weather talk.
