No snow yesterday. Warming up from the weekend so now I'm looking forward to Spring. Overcast here with just the occasional bit of blue sky. Temp 1.5c. Light winds from the east.
-
Just had a call from my mate sailing just off the coast at Great Yarmouth and he told me he will be late back in tonight at Lowestoft because he is becalmed. Now that isn't something that happens all that often in these parts. No wind whatsoever.
-
According to the radar Lowestoft has now been sitting under a band of heavy precipitation on and off for about 5 hours. Still not a single drop of anything.
-
Does anyone actually leave in the east anglian region!? Echos across the whole area and not one mention of snow, I guess its either rain or you all leave in the dry slot!!
I have been trying to tell everyone to forget what the radar is showing because it isn't snowing or raining here even if the radar is showing that it should be.
-
There wiull be a distinct dry slot this afternoon-
that the gap between the end of the front & the convection spawning to its East...
If you end up in that forget it-
All eyes on the showers all over Norwich & thetford etc - tracking SSW-
S
We should have had showers on and off for the last few hours according to the radar, it has been as dry as a bone. Have a feeling the radars are not working properly or this is the wrong type of precipitation.

Some Interesting developments over EA
The convergence of the Atlantic air V the Continentla air seems to arrving at a head across Sewards from-
just east of the Wash -fakenham down to say Ely + cambride-
The front is struggling to get east of that line-
On the eastern side there are showers buiding up & still within the easterly flow these should be snow-
these are out towards Norwich etc & south/east-
The bit in the middle will be more than likely be dry slotted-
regards
Steve
Here in Lowestoft according to all the radars we should have been being snowed on or rained on for the past few hours when in reality there has been nothing.
-
Really wouldn't take a lot of notice of the weather radars at the moment. Lowestoft should have had rain or snow a few times this morning according to the radar but it has been as dry as a bone here.

Some very nice photos you have been posting Mr Random Images, good to see the snow/sky so well exposed, keep them coming
Thanks Huntso.

Looks like he has a bit of Suffolk Punch in him. No need for a rug really, as long as they have shelter. The worst weather for them is actually driving sleet or rain, it get's under the top waterproof layer of hairs, and that's when they get cold.
Suffolk Punches are a hardy old breed......ours stayed out in the -10c nights of December 2009 and didn't like coming in.
Yes it is part Suffolk Punch without a doubt. And there was a nice big shelter for him.

Light snow here. Freezing easterly wind. Dull and overcast.

Went for a walk to Herringfleet this afternoon and took this snap. Thought it had a bit of a Dickensian feel to it. So I will dedicate this to the great man on his 200th birthday. It was minus 5c according to my iphone app. My shutter finger very nearly ended up with frost bite. All the canals were frozen.

A beautiful sunny day here. Temp: 0c. Wind moderate easterly.
-
Showers are heading west as the hit land. My location will miss out. Good luck to the rest of you.
-
I have a feeling that the main band of showers heading towards me from the North Sea are going to take a detour down the Wash and head inland.
-
Still snowing slowly but steadily here.
-
Snowing here in Lowestoft.
-
-
Temperature dropping here again pretty quickly. It needs to keep falling as we have snow showers arriving off the North Sea in about 1 hour.
-
I spoke too soon. Minus 2c at 09.15 and now plus 3.5c. Goodbye snow.

Blue skies here for the first time in a few days. Temp: Minus 2c. A real dead calm feel. No thaw whatsoever.

First day off work in a fortnight and I was looking forward to going out in my new RX8 for some fun driving. So what does the weather do, it pours down with rain. Rear wheel drive and 230bhp and soaking wet roads just don't mix.
