  1. its powdery snow here. Its quite a god send this snow event.

  5. there still warnings for rain in northern ireland according to met office.
  6. I think the river ribble marks the boundary line. everywhere north of Preston will get no snow at all.
  7. atleast all of us are in very cold weather and the windchill will become quite a feature at the weekend.
  8. I just hate this kind of set-up, yestersday I expect 10-15cm of snow here but since it came from the south west It will fizzles out even before it reaches cheshire. I call this rain-shadow effect. much like the pennines the welsh mountains just acting as an block so the snow will fizzle away. the best scenario for frontal snow is from the west and the north west.

  14. In a blizzard condition the snow can actually scratch your face just like sand. I experienced it when I traveled to sweden. just to bare in mind.

  16. my forecast for north west: tommorow: dry and bright start but winds are picking up, clouding over later with light and patchy snow in places by late afternoon-evening. tommorow night: patchy snow becoming heavier later in the night, blizzards towards dawn. Friday: Heavy widespread blizzards. Weekend: N/A.
