Why is the Met office app forecast so....”meh”? Told the kids we would have snow in the chilterns next week.

When driving up to the in-laws in Stony Stratford I pass the fields around Amersham, always think they'd be amazing for sledging!
The hill we were on was empty so took a few runs to pack down and get some speed up! But good fun and the kids loved it!

The French radar clearly shows the band arcing around nw.
So it moves east but then the precip moves nw aswell.
Nick, do you think the Chiltern will be in the firing line? Met office app showing light snow for now about 30mins ago but that has disappeared to be replaced with 6-7 hours of heavy from midnight

Is this the right thread for those that live in the Chilterns? (Like me) anyone else from that area?

ECM has a beautiful widespread snow risk Wednesday/Thursday
Highly likely to change given the lead time but it does show the continued snow risks just about anywhere going forward. It might not be a "deep cold spell" with widespread blizzards but it's certainly an interesting time with many areas likely to see snowfall at some point or another
Is that depth of snow or rain equivalent? Thanks

Do these EPS not upgrade and downgrade on a daily basis though? One day they look great the next they look meh?
When hi res operational models are all over the place at Day 4 and 5 why should we be worried about lower res runs between days 7 and 12?
All entirely futile and a waste of emotion surely?
Great post. So much volatility yet people seem to take what’s showing at D5+ as gospel. Can’t understand it myself

Is there any part of the globe that gets cross model consistent agreement on forecasts?
