  1. Beautifully clear skies over Leeds....
  2. Fallen away again now to very fine dust, still blowing horizontally mind.
  3. Just very fine snowy mist blowing in the wind in S9.
  4. Mostly rain, but with a few snowflakes thrown in. Been raining pretty much all day though. NW Sheffield.
  5. If current map on meteoradar is anything to go by then I think Sheffield will miss this. Pennines doing its trick of killing off the front and wind blowing NE doesn't appear to help. I could of course be proven very wrong, that and there are hours to wait yet.
  6. The missus and I went for a walk around Worrall, High Bradfield ways and across some of the peaks, easily a foot of snow in places, and in some of the valleys some of the drifts had hit 6ft+ was very beautiful and highlighted the reason I love snowy downpours. I'm happy we had this this year though, last year was a bit of a let down. Here is to many more years of good snowfall.
  7. Looks like the snow over Sheffield is getting towards the end of its deluge. Which is a shame, was looking forward to a day of snow being dropped on us. I can't complain at what we've had overall though, last night was a fantastic amount of snow to top us up. Can anyone inform me if we are to expect anything more in the next few hours? Meteoradar shows the tail end of it fizzling away over us.
  8. Morning, just walked half the distance to work ~4miles and it changes a lot across the N/NE/E of the city. NW where I live had about 8"inches of snow, so dug the missus out to make sure she got to work ok, then walked from her work. Main roads are ok, but slushy, side roads covered and being compacted so temperature drop will make it hard work when it freezes. Snow falling now is a mixture of chunkier stuff in NW and E and finer drizzle / snow across the N/NE. Noticable change in temperature as well, fast melt across the N/NE and nothing in NW/E.
  9. I reckon we've had it for about an hour so far, snow is getting thicker and quite gusty, certainly wouldn't call it blizzard. 120M ASL in Worrall.
  10. Could do with a top up here NW Sheff. It's been on and off with light glitteraty snow but nothing meaningful. Then again I did wake up to ~3inches of snow on the roof of my car. I'm just greedy and want what is meant to be coming across from the east to stop just in front of the pennines and dump a load of snow on me.
  11. The glitter is still falling here. Probably got about 3" on the roof of the car which is nice.
  12. Cheers MP and SB, appreciated. Looks like plenty more of the light glittery stuff for us here then, not complaining but some chunky flakes would be nice to see.
  13. Well it's been snowing here (Worrall area of Sheffield) for about 4 hours now, very light, but very constant, it's covered tracks, and probably put a couple of inches on the ground and cars. Doesn't show any sign of slowing down just yet either. Can someone direct me to a radar that is updating please just looked at 12Z and obviously now it is a bit out of date. Ta.
  14. Very light whispy stuff at Sheff Airport now. Looking at the radar it looks like this is the front of the more serious stuff to come. SB - looks like you are spot on there.
