  1. OMG! The sun has appeared. But it's still cloudy. Oh and the lilac is blossoming but I haven't seen any Swifts yet. This time last year I had seen the first batch swooping around.
  2. Morning each. It's chilly and breezy in Norwich at the moment.....and dull. Oh, please God not another summer like last year. Hope you all have a brilliant Sunday. Meanwhile....here is something to cheer you up. You'll have to click on it to see it better;
  3. Last Thursday (9th May) marked one year since I joined Netweather. It's been a fab year and I've met both on line and in person, lovely, friendly people. Thanks guys. It's been wonderful.
  4. Back in Norwich. Very heavy rain between Ippy and here. See lightning in MK and that area. Lucky things. Hope we get some. I desperately need cheering up right now.
  5. If..by what I've been reading the summer is going to be like last year, then it looks as though we have to say bye bye to any chance of some damn good storms. So......get posting you're storm videos folks and on with the 'storm sound' CDs. *sigh* Oh! For the storms of the 80s and 90s.
  6. Mornin each. Well, I've resorted to donning my winter woolly today. I'm colder than a tax mans heart. Have a good week-end everyone.
  7. Brilliant video...80s weather. Thanks for that. Unfortunately I still lived in York then so missed it.
  8. Yea Gods.....it's blowing a right hoolie out there now. It sounds really eerie with the wind moaning around the storage building at the back near the river. Quite exciting really.
  9. Morning each. Blimey...there's a pretty strong old breeze here in Ippy this morning. But it is quite sunny but lots of low cloud. Nah! Like Steve and MarcB I want high winds in Autumn not ruddy spring. Have a good day, everyone and if you are experiencing high winds....enjoy but stay safe.
  10. Afternoon each. Dull start to the day but now it's sunny and very warm but sky quite hazy. Hope you all had as lovely a bank holiday as I did. Now......back to reality. *groan* Now I want some thunder just to cheers us all up. âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡âš¡
  11. Was that our summer then? Seems like its going to change with cooler temps and rain later in week. *sigh* We could've at least had some thunder to finish the weekend.
  12. Oh....I meant to mention....while at Alton Water, we heard one of these. A nightingale (yes....they do sing during the day) it was beautiful and so poignant and I recognised it straight away;
  13. Hi each. Well, I've had a fabulous day at Alton Water having a lovely family picnic and games day. It was really hot bit some cloud cover later. Thought we may get some thunder but its clear now and sunny again. Hope you've all had a smashing week end and let's all hope we get many more days like this to enjoy.
  14. Oh, Victor I am so very sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you must be feeling right now. It's horrible and lonely and ghastly. On May 25th it will be a year since my beloved cat, Oscar died and I still shed a tear for him. It's the worse feeling in the world I know. But don't be ashamed of your tears and sadness as it is so very natural after a loved member of your family dies. My thoughts are with you and your fur baby now at the Rainbow Bridge. (((Hugs)))
  15. Anyone who goes out in hot sunshine WITHOUT PROTECTION is asking for trouble. I had a malignant melanoma above my eyebrow removed in 2008. I was b****y lucky and it hadn't gone very deep. But the surgery and the worry was awful. And I'm not even a sun worshiper but I didn't use sunscreen and I have been burnt in the past. Please, peeps.....USE SUNSCREEN and don't get burnt. It's not worth it believe me. When I read of people becoming red raw and peeling it makes me so angry. It might not show up (melanoma/skin cancer) for years after being burnt but it may take you horribly by surprise. It did me. USE SUNSCREEN and layers of thin clothing, sun specs and a hat. And make sure your kids are protected as well. Don't go in the sun between 12 and 3 pm or keep in the shade. I'll shut up now. But be SUN AWARE.....please.
  16. Don't know if this is what your looking for...but I remember a very violent thunder storm in the Gedney/Spalding area in Lincolnshire on Friday May 30th 1969. And there were quite a few storms that year as I remember. July and September in York had some pretty good ones. Hope that helps a bit.
  17. Mornin each. Another lovely day by the looks of it. It's 12c here in Ippy now so hope it gets warmer. Been really busy with writing and I've been asked to write a piece for a history site aimed at encouraging young people to read history by making it 'fun' and more accessible to them. And my WIP is coming along nicely and already has fans. YAY! Hope you all have a lovely day and have lots of plans for the holiday weekend. Take care all.
  18. Ah, thank you, John. That was most probably what she felt. It was early morning and it was light so July fits. And she was pregnant at the time so I suppose she would be a tad more sensitive to things.
  19. Thank you, Tom. It's better during the day but at night it's quite loud. I'll play some more ambient sounds tonight.
  20. Afternoon each. Nice sunny day in Ippy. I'm tired thanks to raging tinnitus keeping me awake. Had to play sound of bubbling fish tank just to get three ruddy hours., Have a good day everyone.
  21. Does anyone know if there were reports of any kind of seismic activity in the Ipswich area around July/August 2011 at approx' 05:00 in the morning. My niece felt a very strong vibration that morning and items rattling and moving in the house.
  22. Mornin each. Had some rain but its stopped......for now. Very mild though. Looks like its brightening up. Maybe some rumbles later Hope you all have a good day whatever you're doing.
  23. Afternoon each. I say....we're looking very smart aren't we? I like the new look. Well, this weather is glorious and its very hot in Ippy with a nice breeze. About time as well IMO. Thing is....will it last? Have a lovely day folks. Update....it's 16c here at the moment.
