A lot more strike being detected. I hope these 2 cells over Lincolnshire can intensify a little cause they are heading right for us. I'm a little more confident to see something within a few hours now.

I used to live up Mountain in Queensbury and can vouch for this. The snow drifts can be 10ft+ some winters and 3 years ago snow and ice was on the ground for nearly 3 months. We certainly don't miss out on the snow up here but last winter we did which was very unusual.I think my area has to be up there for snow. Since moving from Derby i have been very impressed with the ferocity of some of the blizzards here in the winter. April 4th this year was one to remember here with around a foot of snow in about 5 hours!! Although in the centre of Bradford there were just some slushy deposits.
About today, I think we might have a good chance around 5pm onwards for some maybe weak storms like the other day.

There will be those who adhere to the MetO definition, who will say I got a thunderstorm. To which my one word response is - Clue : It rhymes with rollocks.

It certainly looks like it albeit not as heavy and I doubt we'll see anymore lightning, not untill later at least. There's a heavy shower heading straight for you now but no lightning..Nothing like that intense just a few miles away, although couldn't see the lightning for the fog. But to be honest the rain was nothing unusual here, just ordinary heavy rain. Very dark out there now, i wonder if there will be anymore?

Not bad to say it's only 9:20am. The rain is easing off a bit now but more heavy stuff is building and heading my way by the look of it. Not seen anymore lightning but heard a few rumbles of thunder.

Extreme downpour here, frequent CG lightning deep booming thunder. Very nice wake up call but I'm worried for the folks down in the valley.

Thunder still rumbling away here, seems to be another small storm approaching. The rain was crazy!
Edit:45mm/hr! which is suprising to say we wasn't really forecast that much.

Another day of potential and another day of dissapointment here. Really sucks these past few years, we used to have massive storms in the 90s. The last proper storm was in 2005 I think and I've heard about 4 distant rumbles since then.
. Still can't help watching the radar and looking at charts though. Temp 21c, 79% humidity, 17.7Dew Point. -
Dull, white blanket of cloud and mist here, very humid and warm. All the lightning symbols have dissapeared from the forecasts as usual. Not expecting anything remotley interesting rest of today or year.

After yesterdays dissapointment here I won't be getting too excitedPaul Sherman (sorry and I Cumbria Marra I ) have just drawn my attention to another potential outbreak next week. GFS going with something meaty again and based on their good performance leading up to yesterday, this may be another one to keep an eye on as runs roll out:

Anyone give me a rough estimate what time (if at all) that band approaching from the West will hit me? I would love to see something even slight now but am not really hopeful after how the rest of today has played out for us here.

Aye, I reckon they might be having trouble with power though cause I'm sure we'd have seen a lot more pics and vids by now and I haven't noticed anyone from the hardest hit areas posting.You would think some of our members had nabbed the hail/ floods/ TL images or videos?

I find it quite strange the lack of pics, videos or comments from Leicester and Birmingham and the worst affected areas. Maybe they are having power cuts with all the lightning and flooding, hope they are safe.

Tell me about it Paul, it couldn't have gone any worse for us so far today. Storms to the North East South and West and we are stuck right in middle with nothing more than a few short showers.If anyone in west yorkshire wants to join me i have a large bottle of scotch and dont want to cry by myself..........

Quite a potent looking cell just popped up over Huddersfield with 2 strikes detected, not quite sure if I will catch anything from it or which direction it is heading though.

Oh. My. God! I heard thunder! rumble number 2 of the day. but will I get anything more than earlier, just 1 distant rumble and short shower then bye byes.

I wish I could see the funny side to that but it's probably true for usWe won't see anything today now on Merseyside or Cheshire. Today was our best chance. That's it for another year I'm afraid mate!

That's terrible news I hope there's no more casualties or deaths but I'm sure a fair amount of damage and suffering has been caused. That's a major downside to days like these but it is almost inevitable with weather as severe as some people had today.

My windows are filthy after the showers from today. It's like dry salt and sand. Sadly that's the most interesting thing I have to report from today's weather.

Halifax is bright and the sky is milky overcast, it's misty as well. Still quite humid but I think I've lost hope now of anything major happening.anyone else in west yorks or south yorks gone very dark??? Its that really quiet sound too outside when you sense something happening.

Just had a torrential downpour here but there was/is no lightning and I haven't heard thunder.
It's quite suprising today actually. I expected things to get going around 4/5pm here but whatever did develop in Lincolnshire died pretty quickly and never made it this far. So far this year I've only had 1 unexpected thunderstorm, and the ones that looked most promising havn't delivered or dodged me completely.
